Rear ended….

Got rear ended by someone today, obviously heading through insurance etc. Got hit between 30 and 40mph, and first off glad that no one got seriously injured, feels like muscle aches at the moment. Happy with the protection the Jeep gave me. Looking for any advice/tips when speaking with insurance/damage assessors.
Steel fender is sagging 2” on drivers side, and found the reason for that. Question is do you think this is repairable?

Worst part is we were about to leave on a cross country trip and back at the end of the month. About 7000 miles planned. Looks like that won’t be happening

Their insurance should give you a rental, while yours is being repaired. Make sure that you go after diminished value, from the at fault persons insurance co.

Is that your frame rail? If it is, it's kinked. It's not repairable. It's a total loss.

If that's not your frame rail, it's kinked, whatever it is.

I imagine it would drive fine. The kink is further back than all the suspension connection points except for the shock which doesn't need to be perfect.

Even though it's likely not impeding drivability at all, fixing that kink is going to be a major repair and it will probably be totaled.

Mine was totaled after being rear ended. My advice is to start collecting stock parts to swap with any aftermarket parts you have installed since there is a good chance the insurance will not cover the value of the aftermarket parts.

Thankfully it is all stock apart from rock slides, roof rack and winch. Appreciate the advice

Here in Canada, if you can prove you bought it, its usually covered by insurance. Not the same in the US?

?????????????……..no. You can dispute their offer and with luck and preparation get some consideration. I mentioned to the other insurance company that I’d been getting a lot of calls offering to come to my house for a free medical evaluation…the offer got a lot better after that.

Start swapping any aftermarket parts off it for the OEM if you still have them.
