I've read a few reviews that RCVs are loud and noisy and don't last as long? Can I get some real world feed back? Thanks!

Not sure why there are haters out there. I have 20k miles on my RCV’s and they are doing great. I grease them every 5k miles (every oil change/tire rotation) and am very pleased with them. If you don’t grease them regularly, then they can pop when turning sharp. I wouldn’t go with any other axles.

Thanks for the respond. I've read / researched that they can pop / click often? Do the sling a lot of grease?

They need to be greased a lot. If you don't the bearings will wear and they will click that's generally the noise complaint. RCV says to grease them every 3k miles.

Yes they sling a shit load of grease. The grease is thick and mine hasn't slung everywhere but the general area around the bell.

If you don't grease them enough they click and pop which means you need to rebuild them. 8-10 pumps of grease every oil change prevents this.

Yes they sling grease.

Nonsense. I put 150,000klm on my RCV axles with no issues. They need to be greased properly on a regularly basis. They required nothing else. Noise??? They are quieter then UJoints and those that complain about the poping noise that’s lack of proper maintenance. The cup and boot will get dry and require a smear of grease once in awhile so they slide smoothly.
other then that I highly recommend RCV to anyone and everyone. They operate smooth, they are tough, and there is no more UJoint bind when in 4wd.

They actually specify only 2 pumps of grease every oil change so you may have too much grease. I never had the grease slinging problem.

Maybe your pump is just bigger. Lol

Regardless, 2 pumps, 5 pumps...whatever.

The grease isn't consumed by the axle. By the time you do the initial service, they will always sling grease. (Should be full after install.)

Yours not slinging any tells me you're not servicing it enough or wasn't serviced at all at install. There is no right amount to stop them from slinging grease. Like I said, the grease isn't consumed, so every bit you put in there is still there.

According to this Video 5-6 pumps every 6 months. My oil changed are every 2 months so I did 2 pumps at oil change.

Pumping more grease in the boot is more for forcing grease into the cage and balls where it should be. It's not the quantity of grease you're putting in there. The extra grease is just filling the gaps in the grease "mass", if you will, that is mechanically cleared through use.

I always followed their recommendation for service and didn't have issues. I also take mine apart once a year to clean, inspect, and service with 100% fresh lube.

I got 150,000klm on them with nothing but grease and no slinging grease, always on the highway and they weren’t noisy when I sold the Jeep so tell me what I did wrong.

You didn't service them enough.

Also, you'd be the only person that has made it past 20-30k miles or so without any clicking I've ever heard of.

After that length of time at 2 pumps per oil change, you'd have a quart of grease in the bell. It went somewhere... it's not gasoline. Like I said twice before now, the axle doesn't consume grease. Everything you put in there was still in there or it got slung out.
