Radio/navigation issues 2018 wrangler

I feel like we are alone with this... according to the service people at least. I have my perfect car, my
2018 Jeep Wrangler JL. Has the largest of the touch screens. Bought it August 9, 2018.

We have periodic, not constant, where the navigation will not show on the screen, you cantc turn off the navigation without turning off the radio. Suddenly channels wont switch (unless you use the steering wheel) and the backup camera loses its lines. It has turned itself off while I am driving. I always take videos to prove to the dealer of what is happening.

Well, we are on our third radio (the service department changed it out twice) and still get the same issues (our last switch out was August 9, three days ago, and today, we have the same issues. Three days after the installed the newest radio. Each time I take it in, they keep my jeep for over a week (thank goodness they give me a rental) and the engineer at Chrysler tell them eventually to install a new radio. Is anyone else dealing with this? I just drove home 3 hours from taking my daughter to school with a navigation we couldn't see or have it change or stop.

I am having similar issues and all intermittent. Either the screen won't come on at all, the touch screen portion won't work to change radio/air/etc, the backup camera won't come on, or sometimes the lines just don't show up. We have already had it at the dealership and since they couldn't recreate the issues, they said there was nothing they could do. How did you even get to the point of getting them to replace the unit for you? It's frustrating to have such an expensive vehicle, that within the first few months of having it, it started having all these issues.

I video tape all of them and document the date on audio. That has helped. But of course I am on my third radio and no better. They usually keep it for a week or so before they get the ok to replace. At this point I need to file a claim with the headquarters, which my local dealership even recommended. I just haven't had the time as I am a teacher and this time of year is crazy. Plus, jeez, nothing works. I think all dealerships are not equal in customer service- mine has been amazing.

I have a 2018 JLUR with the 8.4 UConnect, and I am on my 2nd radio and being told to wait for the UConnect software update "that is in the works".

Well update- my jeep is in for its third visit. They said the update in the fall "might work" but they aren't sure. I did call customer service and they were extremely involved and responded and I have had 3 emails from uconnect. I think they are feeling the heat. Meanwhile I am on my third jeep loaner- I have had red and white, and now orange. My local dealership is wonderful but really wanting this fixed.

same boat, different issues. Mine goes into a constant crash and reboot cycle as soon as I plug any phone into one of the USB ports. Tried three new Apple brand cords including the smaller USB-C. No music works through car play, no stored music libraries are available. Mine has been in three times, had a new head unit installed and still doesn't work. I gave up on taking it back in, wasted too much of my time and three days of rental cars I had to pay for out of my own pocket. I think it may be a problem with the USB system rather than the head unit on mine, because if I plug a non-phone device in to charge, it gets intermittent power (on/off/on/off...) and the little lit ring around the USB port in the console constantly flickers on and off.

Like I said though, I have given up on it.

You are all not alone. My car goes in again for the third radio replacement today-I don't understand what is happening but I get ONE station, the radio just scrolls-yet my other Wrangler gets thirteen stations-we live in a suburb of Boston it's not like there's not a plethora of channels here. Also, it intermittently cuts out-volume-it will just disappear for four seconds, then come back on for fifteen, repeat, repeat....Doesn't matter if it's Sirius, AM or FM.

Ive tried changing my antenna, tried checking connections behind glove box as someone else suggested, nothing. The car is perfect in every way except this.

I also lose navigation in the middle of a trip, and lose my backup lines intermittently.

Update on the update: I got the update installed, and suddenly I get all the middle channels I was missing-but the reception is still not great. So I'm looking into some type of antenna booster-anyone know of anything that would help?

On my fifth try, last week, I returned to the dealership and they said the new update was supposed to fix all my issues. I am happy to say that so far, it has. We went on a trip 1.5 hours away and for the first time ever, the screen didnt freeze. So for anyone who has been having trouble, I recommend sending it back in and getting the new update.
