I have been watching the pricing of the Racor hoist's and was wondering why they are either $500 or out of stock. So I called Racor direct and the lady told me they are not discontinued. But now they are only are selling through Amazon. She said they "non-essential" items, and they are sitting on truck waiting to be off loaded. I also asked about the current $500 price and she said that is when they are out of stock. She said they should sell for $250-$280 when in stock. Hope this helps others looking for the Topsy / Racor setup.
I purchased mine on amazon for $250 in early May and it arrived in a week. The box was banged up but everything was fine except for a plastic bushing which I had Racor send a replacement out to me. Just be patient and they'll be in stock soon.

My box came banged up as well but I removed and checked to see if everything was there. Luckily it was all there. Install was not easy by myself as my ceilings are 12' and I up to mount 2x4's since the area I was mounting to had joist running different directions.....but so far I love it. I did have to make an extension to the Crank for the drill so I added a 3' piece of aluminum pipe with a rod inside to make the extension. Works great. I did not add longer cables because I have no need for it to go to the floor. It stops about 3' short of the floor which is plenty to put the panels on top then raise to hook up the hardtop. I did by the Topsy lift parts and the Metal Cable pieces.

I would love to see if there was a way to motorize the crank so as to use a wall switch or something to raise and low without the use of the drill.

Any photos of the extension?

In the time it took to order one today at $249 and complete the task they now say currently unavailable. I have been looking everyday maybe twice a day for a few weeks. Finally popped up and I jumped on it.
They will come back in stock soon.

I spoke to topsy and they told me they will be up on amazon soon. They are on a truck but can't be up because they are not "essential".

I purchased a longer steel cable from Home Depot, they only had blue vinyl coating in the same size cable thickness. The only other thing I'm going to add will be some straps to hook into the four eye hole hooks on the 2x4s and the rack for extra safety

Great idea on the straps. How does the overall setup feel? Solid with the topsy cams? I ordered the topsy stuff as well! Just takes a while to get to Canada haha.

i thinks it’s solid. They topsy parts are great and high quality too. using The hand crank for such a high setup sucks so I’ll def need to make some kind of an extension for the drill because I’m not sure how much clearance I’ll have behind the Jeep. Be sure to inspect the parts when it arrives, especially the plastic ones. Racor send me a new piece with the plastic bushing when I called them but I’m not going to swap it with the one I fixed unless I need to.

So got an email that it was on delay. Was supposed to be here yesterday. Im thinking the company who had them cheap on Amazon really didn't have them in their possession.
