Moving the kid's apartment stuff.....Big box store crap...not tents :)
Since it will be relatively light, maybe think about allowing the center rack portion to rotate out of the way for the soft top, instead of trying to avoid the soft top.

Similar to the fold back design of the Gobi, but I believe you could leave both hoops in place and just rotate/lift the storage platform to operate the soft top.

I don't. But I don't follow where you're going with this line of reasoning John. Would you mind further explanation?

Are you perhaps concerned that the lack of flexibility of the aluminum extrusion might force/transfer pressure on the vertical members, for example?
I was thinking that the aluminum portions might get damaged more quickly, but maybe not.

Just a heads-up that having your windshield replaced on a Jeep with an exoskeleton rack will be more work. I've only replaced mine once (Gorilla Glass free first replacement) and the dealership dealt with it.
