Just curious about this - As I counted approx. 23 Jeeps on the way home from work yesterday, all of which waved but 1 - So im curious why do you choose not to wave??? And I swear NC is Jeep country I cant believe how many jeeps there are running around here!
I always wave. One thing I wonder about is should you wave at someone you pass? It happens a lot on the freeway. Most of the time I try to but they either don’t see me or are pissed I passed them and don’t wave back. So should you wave someone you pass?

i live in the LA suburbs. i see 10 wranglers every time leave the house. i rarely get waves.

when i head out east, to the mountains where the trails are, just about everyone waves, including bone stock jeeps just driving down the street. as mentioned above, it seems to be the starbucks cool factor wrangler owners who dont even know about it (or care), and there's a ton of them.

some times it seems like modified TJ owners dont even look over at me. like some of them dont acknowledge newer wranglers (not real wranglers lol).

Used to have an 07 Ninja and that was a cool two finger wave on the side of the bike - always thought it was alittle funny though coming from a Jap bike and waving to say a Harley! lol ...
Hell when I'm on my road bike (bicycle) I wave at motorcycles. Almost all wave back. I figure we're both minorities on the road.

Jeep Wrangler JL Quick Poll - Why You Choose Not To Wave? 0B9D1BFA-5B7E-4253-9243-0F233AC62749
I usually wave, but occasionally forget and then realize that a jeep is passing. Driving and pondering either what I did at work, what I'm going to do at work, or what's at home waiting for me is enough to distract me from the occasional missed wave :)

What's with the Distracted / Spaced Out people? Sell your vehicle(s), please.
For me it's actually the opposite.. meaning I'm not paying attention for the wave but concentrated on driving.. There is no option for that so this is the closest? I'm thinking that is the reason most are selecting that.

My daily commute is one lane roads so when someone passes me going the other way its noticeable esp if its a Jeep - Charlotte has a ton of Jeeps on the road :jk:

I see many Jeeps every day and wave all the time. I can usually predict which ones won't wave back. A fully stock newer JK/JL Jeep with a hardtop usually won't wave. Any with doors/roof off or soft top will wave. Any older Jeep will wave. Any Jeep in a rural area will wave.

I took my fam to OBX last week for a day. Yup. Arrived Sunday night and was evac'ed Monday night. Really sucked. My family is amazed at the whole Jeep thing-the mods, the Wave, the openness, everything. Since I got the Jeep in late June they have turned every trip in a vehicle has morphed into a game of who can sight more Jeep Wranglers. At least I've been able to educate them enough to know that the Wrangler is the only true Jeep.

As soon as we got to our rental off came the doors and my BP started lowering as well. We went out for dinner with the doors of which was a new experience for everyone. Monday morning I took my daughter down to the Wright Brothers museum and that afternoon we spent it on the beach.

My daughter counted over 150 Jeeps on the drive from the DC area to OBX on Sunday. On Monday she doubled that just on our round trip to KDH from Duck. NC has a LOT of Jeeps and the kids still battle in the car to count jeeps. -.-

Good point, and yes I should have clarified as this goes along without saying, safety number one priority so if something is pulling your attention to the road and a jeep passes im sure most would focus on the road !

i'll be honest, I usually don't wave unless im getting waved at or its an obvious "enthusiasts" Jeep (lifted, big tires etc etc) Nothing stings more than waving and getting the cold shoulder from a stock jeep with a baseball team tire cover. Most times, here in Chicagoland the waves are rare.

I wave until I get about 5 in a row that don't wave back. I figure that must be no wave territory (coincidentally it seems to happen more the closer I get to a Starbucks but I never thought about it until I read the other comments on this forum) once I get a wave I'll wave back and assume I have left the no wave zone.

I also answered with the distracted option because there have been times I have been paying attention to other vehicles or pedestrians and my kids have told me I missed a wave. I think there is a difference between being distracted from a wave by more important things on the road but that wasn't an optional answer.

At this moment 68.8% of respondents report driving while distracted / spaced out. That's scary to me. Put the phone down or pull over if you need to catch that pikachu. Crazy people...

By distracted I am merely voting that I am paying attention to the road, surrounding conditions, pedestrians other moving vehicles, I may catch the Jeep to late to either acknowledge or wave. I generally spend most of my time looking far ahead in the lane(s) associated with my direction of travel. Along with any side streets filtering into my lane or pedestrians and bicyclists. Not saying I am perfect with the phone. But most of my missed waves are not attributed to my lack of attention on the road. Just the opposite.

it depends on where i'm at.

commuting to work i'll have same 5 jeeps wave t me. 1 yj, 2 tj, 1 jk, 1jl. once in a while i'll get 2 or 3 waves extras. most of those are modded.. other jeeps do not wave. they couldnt care. but i did get a finger from a jack@$$. not much of a freindly town.

in other towns i'll get plenty of jeep waves because jeepers looks out for other jeepers. even jamming traffic to let you out from a side road.

I think you misunderstand. If I'm driving and I don't wave its because i'm distracted by actually driving and not looking at people in the other jeeps.
