Sounds like many of you struggle as I do. I hate Christmas time just for this reason. Too many times people spend their money on some random thing that will just get thrown in the garbage because of a felt obligation. I’d rather just go somewhere and have time with the family and/or friends; use the gift money towards some vacation home for a long weekend and play some board games or do activities outside. Money much more well spent. If I want something, I’ll just buy it. Unless it’s a private pilots license and Piper aircraft, wife said I can’t just go spend $150k…. Racist of her.

I will say my wife has completely hit the mark sometimes though. She got all the family to chip in on a nice Blackstone for me two years ago. This past year I told her, “if someone asks, just tell them Jeep decorations for the garage.” So, I got a bunch of stuff for the garage, I think all that I’ll be putting up. It’s unfortunate that if someone goes out and searches online because “oh, franky likes Jeep things” they’ll find lots of cheap angry grill accessories and think, “$20, I’ll just get it.”
My suggestion would be to do just that. Put it up in the garage so it doesn’t get “ruined”, they feel special because they see it up and being used, you get to keep your Jeep unmolested. Stickers on the tool chest or work bench, frames around old vintage license plates or plastic ones with “Jeep” as the plate sequential, stuff like that.

Realized years ago when I had my JKU I need to give my wife a list with specifics on items I wanted. She preferred that to her trying to guess and spending money on something I wouldn't use or appreciate.

In my
I send my wife and family members links to specific items. The mystery of Christmas is reserved for the kids. Us adults prefer guaranteed smiles. :like:
In my family all of the adults do this also, except my wife. She says that it isn't about getting what you want it's about giving something that you think will make the other person feel special. She won't actually tell me what she wants, and I am supposed to decide from everything that she said all year what would be the thing that she really wanted for Christmas. If I get it wrong, then she gets upset and complains that I didn't get her what she has been wanting all year. Conversely, she never gets me what I actually tell her I want and gets upset if I don't really like it. My entire family tries every year to get her to change but she refuses, I think she just likes to find things to get really upset about, especially at Christmas.

I have the Avengers window sticker for the front from the family I don't mind, but they bought me a box of ducks for my bday...I hate the duck thing. Can't bring myself to tell them lol.
While I do see Wranglers on the highways, it's very rare that one is parked within 500m. (Adjust distance as needed for excuse.)

First time you can duck a jeep, plunk the entire box on their bumper! (But then your family will buy you more.) So go do something with some jeep peeps and give them to the duck crowd.

In twenty years you'll get one of those fancy chairs to ride up the stairs in your house.
Enjoy the good times.

For all the stuff you don't want on your Jeep, make a "shrine" wall out in the garage to hold all the great gifts you have received that you don't want on your rig. Each time you get something you don't like, you can smile and say, ohhh, that'll go on the Jeep shrine.
