Hello everyone! I had to use my winch for the first time last weekend to get unstuck from a snow pile and, while I was able to do so, the winch was behaving in a strange way, and I would like to figure out if that's intended or if I should have it fixed/replaced before it fails the next time I need it.
Let me explain. The winch is a Warn EVO 8S (wireless). I was having a hard time manually unspooling the line, as the rope sleeve is pretty long and thick and it kind of gets stuck when wrapped around the line. So I engaged the winch to see if the motor could help me unspool it, but the wireless remote's LED would blink blue for a second and then the remote would turn itself off. I proceeded to unspool it manually (which wasn't easy) and then the remote worked perfectly both to pull and unspool.
My question is: is there a mechanism/switch that makes the winch not work when it encounters too much resistance when unspooling using the motor? Thank you!
