Can I use this sealed oil from 2022 even though it's pretty dark? Can gear oil go bad somehow?

Valvoline customer service is easy to contact over the phone. IF you can give it til a week day call Valvoline customer service and get that input...

Contact Valvoline Customer Care by toll free telephone call to 1-800-327-8242.

By the way, why are you not going with Valvoline 75w140 Syn. Gear Oil in both front and rear diffs and going with the lesser weight Valvoline offering?

Should I be using something different? I thought 75w140 was better if you are towing?

Unless there's a listed expiration date on the bottle, I'd be inclined to use it, if it was my Jeep.

I put 75w140 synthetic in mine even though the owner's manual recommends otherwise. For my M210/M220, the Dana rebuild spec for these axles says to use 75w140 so that's what I'm doing.

Ah ok thanks for that link. I had done a search and came upon your post from 2021 that said 75w-90 was the way to go but looks like info has changed. I guess I'll return what I bought and get some 75w140

Yes.

I've several quart bottles of years-old moto-specific engine oil on the shelf, the result of buying every one at the store due to closeout pricing. I just used two quarts last month when the oil change came due.

Used oil samples are sent to Blackstone Labs for analysis. The reports don't contain any untoward data, nor have there been any observed running or shifting issues.

Proceed as you decide here. ?

I'll go back to that lengthy thread and try to edit my old posts that talk using 75-90. That thread has gotten crazy long and probably most guys will read the first few pages and...

Google says as long as it’s unopened it has well over a 5 year shelf life. Some posts I saw said to give it a good shake in case any of the additives might have settled.

Also understand that if it’s not synthetic it’s already a few million years old.

I'm getting ready to do both my front and rear, Sounds like the 75-140 is the way to go regardless. going to use the Royal Purple Max, they are sitting in my amazon cart.

New oil just arrived today but won't have time to do the swap till next week. I bought 3qts but I think my math is off. If I mix in a little of the 75W-90 I already own into the front axle will that cause any issues? Or should i just get rid of the 75W-90 and grab another qt of 75W-140?
