Its personally the biggest POS main Engine Ground, ive had to make my own heavier duty ground for many JLs after no starts and things alike
I could not agree more with you! POS for sure. only 5 years and ~68k miles. I was not expecting something like this to fail so quickly.
No starts! sounds like I was almost stranded in the woods. The first symptom was early morning while wheeling. Limped it over a mountain pass to get it back to the dealer. Engine started surging by that point. A month later after replacing main battery, alternator etc. they found the ground strap! They didn't charge me for all the extra parts put in thankfully! That was covered by ext warranty,

They don't usually burn up. Is the battery leaking on it? Rubbing on the cat, do you have a large inverter that's grounded to the body?
It was not the battery leaking, or no signs of that anyway. No large inverter as well other than the stock one that I never use.
I suspect it was almost laying on the CAT and that just did it in. I'm not 100% sure though as the dealer swapped it out, and they didn't give me a lot of details.

Hi all. I have a question. 2029 JL 2.0
I just replaced transmission and now I'm having electrical issues. The jeep started right away after transmission was in, on test drive after about 5 min I got a battery flashing error on display. After I parked I couldn't start again. Thought it might be battery or alternator, tried to jump and it wouldn't jump. So prob not alternator.

Also got a message saying starter won't start for 60 ssecond countdown on dash.

Wondering if I missed a ground strap when replacing transmission.

Does anyone know where the ground strap is located on transmission?

Ps, the starter looks connected fine. Nothing loose.

The aux battery I tested and its putting out 12.4.

it seems like it might be a loose ground or another wired related to taking out tranny.

Any suggestions? Thank you

Check the high amp fuse array
FWIW if the array blew the aux would be dead. If the alternator fuse blew the vehicle would still start with proper battery voltages. Considering he just took the transmission out this is obviously a loose ground scenario causing improper charging. Just re-check your work, you'll find it. Most likely on the right frame rail or fender area.

Quick update.
I tested both batteries and alternator and they are working.

And the problem is still happening, though intermittent. Definitely seems like a wire loose.

Ive looked everywhere and do not see anything loose. Does anyone know if there is a wire (maybe a ground strap) on top of the transmission? Or somwhere that isnt visible?
