Problems figuring out how to replace light bulb in tail light

I can't find manuals, YouTube videos, or anything on how to change the bulb.

Anyone have a clue?

I noticed on my 2021 that there is a pop out plastic access panel on the inside that I assumed was for accessing the taillight but haven't tried it yet.

Inside the jeep on the right and left side of the back window there will be a small plastic cover you will have to remove. Use a flat head screwdriver. Than use the torx in your supplied tool kit to remove the plastic bolt that holds the taillight in. The taillight will now come out.

Really easy to do, I did mine a while back, took about 15 minutes per taillight, super simple!
Jeep Wrangler JL Tail Light Bulb Replacement

Be forewarned, I have the (non-LED) halogen bulbs from the factory, however the rear tail light side marker light is an LED which cannot be replaced without replacing the whole assembly. The backup bulb and the turn signal bulb can be replaced. You will need to make sure that the bulb is a little bit shorter. I had issues where my replacement LED backup bulb was too long, and had to buy a different one to make it fit.

This is the single bolt and what the back of the light looks like when it comes out. I broke mine out on the trail, slid into a tree. That plastic bolt-spring works by compression and sucks the assembly into the body, so go easy on it removing and installing.

That’s the LED tail light shown and is not reparable.

There is no way to replace the broken red lenses or a faulty LED board on a JL's LED tail light. You will need to replace the whole tail light.

Factory Led tail light:

For a replacement tail light, do look to forum classifieds, eBAY, FB Marketplace, etc. for pull offs that guys/gals are trying to sell.

Also, you could go with an aftermarket tail light offering.

With a Halogen, JL tail light, yes you can do a bulb change but the red lenses in not replaceable.

Factory Halogen tail light:

If you break the white plastic screw with the spring that secures the JL LED or halogen tail light, the Mopar part for that is... Taillight white spring screw: Mopar (06512356AA)

If you break the black plastic bracket that is fastened onto the back of a JL, LED or Halogen tail light that part # is Tail Lamp Bracket - Mopar (68307139AA). This bracket is used on both left and right tail lights.

Thanks. I've gotten the tail light completely out and everything off. I just couldn't get to the final step of getting to the lights. Now I know why. Why does Jeep make the reverse lights so dim? I have to use the brake lights to be able to see what's behind me, on the camera.

If you have a trailer hitch, do consider ordering the HitchMount LED Pod Kit.... this terrific aftermarket b/u light offering that @Diode Dynamics has come out with is something else..

The USA company offering is well designed, decent to look at and very very easy to install for most any guy or gal.
Takes less then 10 min. to install. Also, the price point for this offering is very good.

Oracle also makes lights that can fit where the reflectors are in the bumper and tap into the reverse lights. IT does provide more light. Not enough to make the camera look much better though.

I think it would be more helpful if Jeep put a better camera in to begin with. My 2016 and 2022 Silverado had a MUCH better camera for night than the Jeep.
