I am opting for leather.

Like everything else, routine cleaning and maintenance goes a long way to keeping everything looking and running good.

I’m worried about black leather seats in the 100 degree summer sun. I can’t imagine anything other than cloth.

Is the heat on the leather not that bad?

I have cloth on my current jk Rubi and it’s a non issue.

That was my initial contact concern. But I think I am still going with leather as it comes with the rear armrest which doesn’t come with cloth.
Also easier to clean. I am going to have to tolerate the cold/ heat.

The dark cloth holds up great to pets, you can throw a cover on for good measure, but my two dogs and a toddler have put the cloth on my JKs through hell and they still look new.... also, Im a bit more comfortable with the cloth getting wet from a rainstorm if the top is down then the leather... that could be an unfounded concern, but mentally it just seems like the cloth holds up better to water.
Funny. I swear I’ve seen cows out in the rain. Seriously though, have you never seen waterproof leather jackets/motorcycle gear? Leather handles liquid much better than cloth in my opinion.

The water and leather was my concern as well, just something in my mind says leather and rain do not work together. Ironically I put a set of WJ loather seats in one of my old TJ and beat that thing like a rented mule, no top all summer, rain, mud etc, I only had it about 2 years but those seats always looked new... so maybe leather is okay for rain and mud?
Hmm. I would think the opposite? Cloth will absorb water and let the underlying foam get wet... and heater wires if you have heated seats. Wet foam over time would get moldy and smell. Water will bead and roll of of leather, no? Plus, ā€œleatherā€ vehicle seats aren’t really leather.

Cloth, I live in the desert and have seen the highest end leather interiors destroyed in no time by the environment, plus that’s $1500 that can go elsewhere.

For me, cloth is more comfortable and cooler in the hot sun (I live in Texas) and doesn't get cold in the winter, and, thus, no need for seat heaters. Plus, leather does require more upkeep (cleaning, conditioning, etc.). It is a 2-fer, I save money and enjoy the temperature comfort of the cloth better.

My vote is for cloth seats. They're cooler in the summer, warmer in the winter, and avoid all of the inevitable cracks / creases the more leather gets used (conditioned or not). Leather looks better initially but worse in the long run.

I prefer cloth since it takes longer to get really hot.

I have a jk with leather now that I covered with bestop seat covers. I love that they are waterproof, match the premium top, and you can’t even tell that they are covers. I don’t understand why Jeep doesn’t put in waterproof seats from the factory. Since I’ll probably cover my jl’s seats at some point, I almost went with cloth, but changed my mind when I saw all the extras you get with the leather package.
