Getting ready to order a 2025 Rubicon. Cloth seats, vs another $2K for Nappa leather seats. Seems like an enormous premium.

My JK Sport has cloth seats and they’re fine, but otherwise I’ve had leather and liked that too.

i realize that this is another matter of personal , but I’m interested in the experience and advice of others on this.

Not gonna lie - having owned " vegan leather" in this and my previous vehicle I wish cloth was more of an option. harder to clean but far more comfortable on a day to day basis.

Cloth in my first Wrangler, then Leather in the second and now back to Cloth. I liked both but the cloth is more comfortable to me if you like to ride with the top off often.

The cloth in my 2 door Sahara was still in amazing shape after 8 years.
The Leather still was in decent shape after 13 years but I had plenty of burning legs! The Leather of course was MUCH easier to clean and I worry more about spills on the cloth. If you have kids or dogs I would get the Leather.

It really is a personal preference but I have enjoyed both honestly.

Leather sucks. There are only two reasons to get leather instead of cloth. First, if you expect to have a lot of spills (kids, etc.) and want to avoid staining. I can respect that. Second, if you’re a fancy boy:

For $2K I would choose cloth, I can find better things to spend that money on.

I have leather because it was standard with the 4xe back in 2021, I had leather in 2018 it was less than $1K, bought off the lot deep discounted purchase.

Prior Wranglers were cloth which I never had an issue with, and it's more comfortable than leather.

The leather cracks/wears quickly (some leather paint fixes it) but it's much easier to clean & more difficult to stain
Consider the aftermarket price if you think you might change your mind, and remember you likely won't get the % discount you're getting from your dealer. (If you're shopping via @Ratbert's spreadsheet)

It's really a personal preference thing. I always choose leather because it's easier to clean, and if you take care of it, it will last forever. There's nothing you can do to make cloth last...it will get worn out and eventually tear.

I definitely understand the temperature concerns with leather though - especially black leather in a convertible. It can get pretty wicked.

Cloth. And if you decide you want leather later down the road, you can go the Katzkin route. My dogs slip on the leather all the time too. I did purchase a cover eventually.

Cloth. I'm in AZ.... leather with the top off is terrible. Also, I just think cloth is more comfortable.

Certainly personal choice. I have had both cloth and leather in my JLs and both have thier pros and cons.

I have a couple of dogs that road trip with me so the leather is a lot easier to clean the dog hair up with. Basically whipe it off. Cloth is harder to get dog hair out of.

because of my dogs mainly I would pick leather over cloth.
