Excuse my ignorance but what are CV,UJ? Universal joints, CV shafts?

two different ways of connecting the inner axle shaft with the outer stub axle on a front axle or connecting pinion gear to a transfer case via the driveshaft.

CV: more complex and smooth power delivery even when turning. More expensive.

UJ: cheaper and easier to replace, but choppy power delivery when turning.

Full time 4WD or AWD systems use CVs on the front axles. most Part time 4WD systems use UJs on the front axles.

That’s what I thought you guys were taking about. I can honestly say I’ve never seen a SFA with CV boots. It’s always been universal joints.

yeah - it’s a bit odd. Land cruisers and land rovers have run CVs for years on their SFAs, but they have metal housing that the CV fits in.

So I used JC today and got the normal awaiting further inspection or for shipping, but they told me to reach out to my dealer. So I did. This was their response

Will be shipped tonight at 2am 2 second plant for add on. From their it will be railed to NY from MI. Then to Springfield MA. Then finally to ayer ma.I will have a better idea when it's shipped from 2nd plant. Will take a look and let you know.

Which doesn’t make sense, I thought it had already gone to body vendor for add ons? It’s goes to another one?

I contacted JC today and Mathew told me that the Toledo Jeep Plant was shut down for the remainder of this week which is probably why I haven’t seen any more movement on my build. 8 days and counting in the body vendor phase...

Fingers crossed they do away with the FAD bump, but hopefully they didn’t put CVs on the XR

Why not CVs? Aren’t some of the better aftermarket shafts CV? Plus better drivability.

Talked to my dealer again, I told him it had already gone to the body vendor for add ons and he apologized and didn't realize that. That being said, its getting shipped by rail car TONIGHT at 2am!!!!!! He said once its on the rail car, he should be able to give me a pretty accurate delivery date tomorrow! So excited!!! ITS FINALLY COMING!!!
