For whatever reason, the process of drilling the two holes ate up three batteries in about 10 minutes.

The flashing light pattern on your M18 battery -- Lights 1 & 3, and 2 & 4 -- is an overheat warning. Just give it sufficient time to cool down.

That is most likely to occur after long run times/consistent workloads (i.e., uninterrupted voltage drawdown), which is what seems to have occurred via your hole drilling project.

I thought about that.

Even then, if it was stolen goods you could get a whole lot more for it then $50. Not like someone has a tracking device on it or something.

The tire has three or four old broken spider sacks between the treads, and a whole lot of dog hair all over it, so I'm guessing wherever they had at stored, it's been sitting around for a while.

It does have a small patch that looks like a burn mark, but I'm not really sure.

So while I do trust these steel rings that came with my Christmas Nuts, I don't necessarily trust the world alone. These are meant to hang from your front door, not from a d-ring shackle going 70 mph down the highway.

I figured putting a wire crimp on there would help reinforce the weld to the point where at least I would trust it not to come apart at some point in the next 3 months.

So here's the slightly modified crimps...
