The passenger side seat of my 2 door JL freely slides back and forth when the seat is folded forward. It's not only annoying but a little dangerous for my younger son to try to get out when we are on a hill since the seat will come sliding back on him if you stop pushing the seat away from you as you exit the car. The dealer tells me this is functioning as intended. Even stranger, the driver seats locks when folded, like I would expect from a 2 door car.

Can anyone else confirm if their passenger seat does the same on a 2 door JL?

Thanks!

I had the same experience with the passenger seat on my 2 door. Not sure if driver side locks as you stated though. I don't have my rear seat in, and I no longer fold them due to the chance of the crappy mechanism breaking.

Neither seats lock on mine. You pull the release at the top of the seat and seat back folds forward and slides up freely. When my son gets in I just hold the seat. Simple solution for this problem.

Dealer is correct, that is functioning as designed. When folded forward, seats slide free. Always have. The driver side is probably getting wedged against the steering wheel enough to not slide back.

Thanks, all. Seems like a poor design/safety choice from Jeep, IMO.

Not sure there has ever been one that slides forward and locks. When I owned a 2dr JK, I just held the seat for any of the poor people that had to get in the back. Eventually just didn't run a rear seat as well.
Maybe a bungie cord around head rest and hooked into passenger dash grab handle? Actually, a 3D printed plastic piece could work as well.
Good luck OP. Soon enough you'll be fighting your son for the keys anyway ;)

This is my experience. Our garage is only SLIGHTLY angled and it wont hold forward. I honestly thought it was a feature of the seat returning on its own :giggle:
