They should have placed the UAW “quality” decal right there on the corner of your hood. Seems only logical. :giggle:

Funny Bob Lutz story about how easy it is to get consistent panel gaps:

"Volkswagen, in the eighties, was the first Western producer to out-do the Japanese in assembly precision. I asked then-CEO Ferdinand Piëch how they did it: "I got all the production execs in a room and told them they had six weeks to achieve consistent 4mm gaps or they'd all be fired. It was easy!" I humbly suggested this, er, "leadership style" would not be appropriate in the US, and thus, never tried it.

Years ago I got a bad haircut. Got home, looked in the mirror and said F it. Shaved it all off and have kept it that way for years.

Im using the money I saved on hair cuts to pay for my new Rubicon. ?

Back OT, if anyone cares, I use plain old gasoline to clean off the residue from stickers and decals. Works well, I always have some on hand and it has never harmed the paint.
Oo I am going to try this gasoline trick later... I assume it’ll work on removed emblem residue too

I thought Tesla was bad than I noticed my jeep was even horrible. Then I found this lovely sticker on tailgate, awesome, at least it’s not 3 different shades of white. Still love it 199%

My hood looks almost identical to that, bent in the exact same place. Hard to tell in these pictures because its in the garage, not in the sun.

From the same article, regarding Joe Spielman, president of assembly for GM at the time:

“Just show me what you want, and I'll get it for you, guaranteed!" The initial story was that it would take time, and millions for new assembly equipment, which I was ready to approve.

Strangely, within a few months, all GM vehicles were within striking distance of the world's best (and still are today.) And I never saw the request for capital. Years later, I asked Spielman how that had happened. "Well," he explained, "when we discussed it with the lower-level operating supervisors and the skilled-trade hourly folks, they told us they could do it... it's just nobody has ever asked for it before, so they didn't think it mattered."

Wow. Just, wow.

Not to add insult to injury, but your paint looks a little thin there too.

By hey, what you expect for a $20,000 vehicle? ??

No. I heard that stuff works well but it didn’t exist when I was a kid so I tried gasoline. It worked and I always have it.
I"m like you....I use lighter fluid to clean off residue. It's never caused an issue for me. Plus, it's easier to control the spray with those little Rosignol or Zippo cans.

It would have been worse if the UAW 'pride' day sticker was placed perfectly straight. They didn't want to spoil us.
