I've been experiencing a crackling/popping noise from the Freedom top front panels. I understand there is going to be movement between the top and the body. I checked all retaining screws for tightness. After reading the above, I decided to try with what I had on hand, Liquid Wrench silicone spray. After removing both front panels, using paper towel sections and the silicone spray I wiped down all mating rubber. I also did the locator studs and side rubber. Also the pads and latching cam levers. WOW! Huge improvement. Noise is virtually gone. I believe this will be something to do annually. While I was in the process, I did the tailgate rubber, hinges and latch.
I had the creaking of Freedom panels too.
Last week I drove with the Freedom panels off and guess what?
That freaking creaking was not the Freedom panels but the hard top over the sound bar. I have to get in there with some foam insulation.
303 on all the rubber seals, those on the roof panels as well at the seal along the header. Also, make sure all the Torx blots on the latches are good and snug. DO NOT over tighten them.
