No. I think that would just push the tire further out. I’m guessing they changed the hole diameters with the advent of the backup cameras.

No, it will push the tire so far out the hinge would take quite a beating

remove the cover first and try again

I removed the cover. The problem is that the sprehd a 2” dimmer hole and it will take a larger, 2.5 inch hole to slide over the camera mount and low enough tread to put the lug nuts on. They must have changed the diameter of the newer rims to accommodate the rear view camera.
