We had a wind storm in town last week, and when I let my daughter off at school the passenger door got away from her, and it got slammed fully forward with a tremendous “bang”. There is no visible damage to the door exterior or the hinges, but it doesn’t want to open fully without considerable force which is followed by a “pop and bang”.

Looking at the door this morning and comparing it to the undamaged drivers side door, I see the plastic interior hinge appears to have moved, and shows evidence of grinding….. drivers and passengers pics below:

How easy a fix is this? The Door skin looks like it will have to come off to see what happened inside to cause this. The plastic hinge itself still feels solid - not loose - so is it bent? Anyone else have something like this occur?

I do not see much difference left to right. If you see that something has moved (plastic interior hinge) on the right door, try loosening the two nuts and and adjust the link back to its original position. If this does not help, you may have hidden damage on the inside of the door at the detent link.

Going to have to tear the door apart to fix, remove the check strap and replace it.
