Just purchased a 2020 JL 2-dr, and for some reason the driver's side one-touch window function never works on the first push - it consistently requires a second push to engage the automatic down function. The passenger side does not do this, and engages one-touch with the first push. The dealer said this may be a designed "detent" feature of the driver's window, but he's not sure.

Does anyone know about this, or is it likely a defective switch? Thanks,

@emgeesea it sounds like you have something wrong with the switch, I hit mine once and the windows go down.

@nerubi Doors rock  , I've been using them since I left my teenage years:LOL:

I have noticed similar issues, I think it has to do with finesse. The button has to be hit just right.

When you got yours the dealer didn't make you raise your right hand and swear that whenever the temperature was above 40 degrees you would faithfully remove top and doors?

Nope, and I thought that they were pretty good!

There actually is a soft detent on both front windows. You have to press the button all the way in to get the auto-down function to work. A half press operates the window normally.

Thanks, but as with most things posted here there appears to be a range of assertions about how the things are supposed to work. So, until @JeepCares weighs in, I'm not so sure.

With my switches, whether I press half or full: with the passenger switch the one-touch works every time on the first press, but on the driver's switch it never works with the first press and always requires 2 presses to engage one-touch.

Would love to hear a definitive response from @JeepCares. ???

So if you don't want help from the forum why did you post here? Go push your switches with the ignition off. You will feel the detent. If you are indeed pushing the switch beyond the detent and not getting auto-down then your switch is not functioning properly. Pro tip: a good amount of the regulars here know far more about the Jeep than Jeep cares. Good luck getting it figured out.

Don't know if this will help.

I have a 2007 WK that I bought as a used rental 1 yr old and now has 162k and still my only vehicle.

There were numerous 'window regulator' issues/recalls, etc. I had them done initially and DaimlerChrylser was all about them because somehow every German car in the 2000s had window regulators that were trash.

One of the major complaints was that the front windows (both auto up/auto down) sometimes would not activate on the first press. Turns out (I think) it is just some idiotic electric fault. It always works the second time. Seems to come and go. I found out you could 'reset' them by opening all the way, then bringing them up manually (not auto up) on the first detent and holding them closed for 10-15 seconds (your finger still on the first detent up). This cures the problem 95% of the time. The other 5% of the time it goes away after a while. I learned to not care about this since they work flawlessly otherwise.

In fact my driver's window has been off track since all those initial repairs (they must have broken something) and every time I got it fixed it went off track within a month or two. Yet everything still works and is rock solid.

Hope you figure out the issues.

I simply meant that you get a wide variety of responses when you post a question here. Some know what they're talking about; lots just like to share opinions not based on any particular knowledge. No big deal; that's the nature of online forums. That doesn't mean they're not useful...

I posted to see if a consensus of response would indicate a likely answer. Thus far, the responses are widely varying, indicating no definitive answer yet. (e.g., you say detent; others say none.) If Jeep weighs in, maybe a definitive answer will arise, maybe not. Trial and error.

Thanks for your advice.

Thanks, I'll try this.
