Yes, I will drive this Jeep 4K-7K a year and will probably do one change a year if I stick to that. I'd like to do it once a year or 5K, whichever comes first.

My oil is changed at 6k intervals and at the same time the tires are rotated. I use Pennzoil Platinum.

Oh- make sure the dealer (if changing oil there or anywhere) is okay with going past 6 months (for warranty reasons). I could be that Chrysler recommend 6 months or 5K, whichever comes first. Someone said to chk the manual...sage advice.

I also have low mileage and would hit a year interval before mileage. I've changed more like every 6 months in reality, just to keep things clean and fresh.

2.0 Hurricane... Pennzoil Platinum 5w30, because for me it is one of the most available API SP, ILSAC GF-6A oils available that meets the FCA/Stellantis MS spec.

If 3.6 I'd stick with the MS-spec for that, with their frequent head/cam issues, I'd want to be following their spec to the letter of the law for no questions on warranty coverage.

In the older 3.6, the owner's manual used to specify not exceeding 6 months as the time interval for the oil change. Wonder why they changed that to a year.

per the manual, it reads

Under no circumstances should oil change intervals exceed 10,000 miles (16,000 km), 12 months or 350 hours of engine run time, whichever comes first

Engine Oil — 3.6L Engine We recommend using Mopar® SAE 0W-20 Full Synthetic Engine Oil which meets the requirements of the manufacturer Material Standard MS-6395. Equivalent full synthetic SAE 0W-20 engine oil can be used but must have the API Starburst trademark

I guess its time to change my oil, will plan to keep a 6-8 month interval

took delivery of a factory ordered 2024 2 dr MT in January 2024, and after almost a year of ownership, I only have 849 miles. would changing the oil once per year be sufficient with the plan on only driving 1000 miles per year. any thoughts ?
The most common recommendation I see is 5000 mi/6 mos. You want to change at the time interval even if you have not reached the mileage for the same reason you would change your diff fluid after several deep water crossings, i.e. contamination. You want the contamination from fuel and combustion out of the oil.

I and several others on here go lower because of severe service due to frequent short trips, frequent cold/hot cycles etc. which contribute to fuel dilution and oil breakdown. If you are only driving 1000 mi per year you probably fall under those conditions. I would recommend 3000 mi every 3-6 mos .

My philosophy on motor oil is that it shouldn't cost so much that the price of an oil change influences my decision to dump the oil at whatever interval, for whatever reason. Otherwise, it's too precious for me.

My Jeep will only get about 3000-4000 miles per year. I'll change it once a year. My YJ used to get only 2000 or so a year, and I did it every other year. I also needed a rebuilt, so I didn't have to care so much.

I am running Synthetic Valvoline oil (Restore and Protect right now) and I won't drive it unless it will get fully warmed up.

Oil is cheap for sure, by why waste it?
