I’ve been on the forums for years and I’ve noticed a distinct loss of civility. Maybe it’s generational, maybe it’s the broader community, maybe it’s frustration with everything else, but regardless, I’m no smarter for having read this thread but a lot more dismayed. SMH.

Responses here probably aren't the best and a little harsh. I agree I would have had a hard time going back a second time, especially a third time. I have trouble trusting people with my things and your experiences are one reason why.

Learn from hoping they would treat your stuff well even though they didn't.

The least I would ask from them is to clean the undercarriage but I'm not sure if dealers wash undercarriages. But that seems like the least they could do. That plus supplying you with oil to redo the oil change yourself would be better since you lost some oil there.

Why is the oil black ? They didn’t even change it ?
Exactly! I changed my factory oil at 4,400 miles and it wasn't that black, not even close. I wonder if they changed it the first 2 times either for it to be that black...l

I know I and destroy the English language because unlike you I don't have time to sit in front of my computer on my ass and edit everything I speak I don't have time inbetween jobs, and write a well-documented response. Forgive me MAMM and start acting like a man if you want to be respected as one. I thought this was site where we could help one another not ridicule nitpick the same way a woman does. Don't be a B....
@Wrangler man

The woman in my life aren't any worse then the guys as far as nick picking... Of course, I'm not sexist..

I think Compression might have the right answer.

I'm going to keep the last on on reserve if the time comes and I'm on the road a thousand miles from home and need a change. From now on it's all on me. Gonn'a start looking for oil and filters online and purchase ahead...
That's what I did. I got a 5-quart bottle of Pennzoil Ultra Platinum at Wally World online for $25. I have a 2.0 so the filter sits right next to drain plug, very easy to do an O/C on this vehicle.

Well, if you'd read my post, you'd at least have learned that the Q-60 requires a brake fluid change with every oil change.😁

This thread went bad...just read up to this point and you know what I mean, but if anyone is still interested. This morning I checked the dip stick level and it was way high, and too black for just 20 miles.

I ran it up the hoist, drained into a calibrated vessel and out came 11 quarts of dirty black oil...and it only holds 9. I went out and found oil and a filter and did the change.

What happened? Who the heck knows...is the oil rat hording the oil and expensive filters and selling on the side? Was this all an honest mistake? How did it end up with 3 extra quarts? All I know is, ya go to a Jeep dealer to get a simple oil change and it turns into a real shit show. Bottom-line, it's done and it's done correctly.

I did not return to the dealer, I'm not getting in a pissing contest with a 20 yo about the finer points of changing oil. It's done, I'm done and not going back. I learned my lesson.

In fact, I'm reluctant to even post on here any information I have, because of the bad feedback.

Now, for all the naysayers, know-it-all posters, save your breath. I don't care what you have to say and I believe most of the forum wants to keep it civil.

But this was my experience and here is a photo of the drained oil...black as night.

Just did mine for the first time in a decade. Probably cause now I can comfortably lay under my vehicle with so much ground clearance. I did make a mess due to strong winds, but it's nice to know it was dripped dry and done properly.

I changed my cabin air filter and rotated my tires while it was draining. Then poured entire 5 quart jug in. Simple.

to help with the wind and mess, you can put your oil pan up on something so it sits way closer to the pan. I usually use a cardboard box or something and it works well. Eliminates the mess. And if any misses the pan it can hit the cardboard box if big enough.

Actually, if he concentrated on the oil change and not on the video camera/doing a video, he would have less problems... :CWL:
