I am on the hunt for my perfect JL with all the options I want.
Obviously the more picky I am, the harder that is to find (Im picky)

One option I was thinking I wanted was the OffRaod +
But, I plan on getting a Tazer programmer, which lets me have better control over the swaybar and lockers when not in 4Lo.
and I THINK it will also let me turn on the OffRoad + screen even if the Jeep doenst have that button?

So, at that point, is it even worth worrying about having the OffRoad + option?
The only other thing I have seen that sounds nice, is it making the throttle response less touchy in 4Lo.
But ultimately, I could get one of those pedal commander type units to control that with even more detail.

IIRC OR+ is just throttle/shift mapping. You'll want to be in manual for any real work off road anyway.

Off-Road Pages should be seperate and part of U-connect, but it's pretty useless anyways.

If it eases your mind, OR+ was not an option on our 4xe and it's been wheeled pretty much coast to coast.

You hanging on to the LJ?

Yea, I was thinking the same with being in manual shifting mode alot,
Id say I do that at least 60% of the time if I am on anything techincal.
... related question to that... if I am in manual mode and put it in second, will it START OUT in second also? and never go to first?
I wish my LJ would do that, first is TOO low at times and makes it touchy.

No, I am sadly not hanging onto the LJ. I will be sad to see it go, but it must.
I wish Jeep would have made the 2 door JL (what I am getting) the LJ wheelbase.
Getting it ready to list for sale very soon.

Tazer doesn’t control throttle response or shift points. If you get a controller get the Banks that plugs into the OBD and doesn’t scab power from the throttle, or enhance reverse. He has a comparison video available, yes promoting his product but true nevertheless.

Do you know if that will work with an ODB2 splitter, and have the Tazer plugged in at the same time?
The Tazer has to be plugged in for certain features to work.

Not that this helps, but OR+ in a 392 w/ the mrt h pipe is orgasmic.

Depending on how dirty you want to get, Next Venture has a 6" stretch kit for the 2 door they just released. Saw it on Average Willy at EJS and it's pretty killer.

Yes should hold set gear, the 8 speed is great, but the mapping in 4-low is miserable unless you are pedal down in the sand. You almost want to treat it like a manual and let off throttle when you up-shift on trail.

I went the opposite direction and built my LJ last year to retire the JL from the hardcore stuff.

I wouldn't pick a model based on whether it had OR+ or not. It's not that significant (for me at least). It looks like you're getting a Rubicon, so as long as it was built somewhere around 2021(?) it'll have it.

Ha yea, I saw that stretch kit, little susprised there arent more out there for it.
Bit more $ and involved than I want to get. But whoooooo knows one day.

The LJ has been one of my two daily drivers (4Runner) and the JL will be the same.
But, its used on overland type trips where we do some pretty hard wheeling, so its always a balance trying to find that fine line in the build.

Tazer doesn’t plug into the OBD2, but yes you can get a splitter, it is needed for the Diesel when also running a Derringer tuner. Spring for the I-dash and change levels at will with a button push instead of fumbling with a phone but costs about as much as the PM.

Dont know how I missed that the Tazer doesnt use the ODB2, well thats good then.

Looking at the banks a bit more, it looks like it can only INCREASE the throttle response?
Looks like there are no options to make it LESS touchy and responsive for offroading?

It's kind of funky, the Tazer actually replaces the SGW between the OBD and the rest of the Jeep.

Dunno, never tried decreasing. My goal was to eliminate the squishy torque managed off idle throttle response and get closer to a mechanical linkage feel. It’s typically set a little higher, but goal achieved.

OR+ does a lot more than most folks understand. The owner manual explains it terribly and takes a lot of patience to get the most out of it. I like it, but I've (almost) learned to properly use it with much practice.

Given that, I think it's worth paying extra for it if you're the type that pushes your vehicle to its limits off-road and you're comfortable reading a computer manual. But I would not decide on purchasing a vehicle based on whether it has this option or not.

Anything in particular you have learned that it does that seems truely useful?
I typically do not like any "driving modes". I want to control the vehicle myself.
The only one I have used alot and think works very well is A-Trac on my 4Runner.
And it seems the JL has some thing similar to that (using brakes to stop the spinning wheel) and seems that is its own thing, separate from Offroad+

The main thing I read that I thought I might like (that Tazer cant do) is it making the throttle less touchy in 4Lo.
but I guess if its not doing it in a way or at a sensitivity I like, then that useless, since its not adjustable.
