We never have that problem. My wife and I are 90% solo, 10% with one or two others max. We do carry allot of tools, equipment and firearms but it's worth it to us.

I will say the 2016 Jeep Jamboree was quite fun. May do that again sometime, nice folks.

Tried a Jeep club once, for two monthly meets, we looked at each other and said,,, NOT.

To each his own, live and let live.

This. 100% This. A friend and I jeep together. We plan to maximize several different factors, including getting the kids and wife's to the beach! Maximize the trails we want to hit. Very planned and very intentional. Jeeps in a parking lot does not sound fun. Also, we bring in new people. We help introduce them. We prepare them and plan a route that maximizes fun and meets the capability of their vehicle.

My daughter and her Hubby will be following us to Ouray this summer. She will be renting a Jeep there and we will be giving her a tour of the Alpine Loop and most of the other trails. We are all looking forward to her off road 101. Will have to let her drive Black Bear and Poughkeepsie with us, the rentals are not allowed on those trails.

Will be fun I should think. I bet she is Jeep shopping when we get home.

To each his own. Personally I am not into formal clubs, such as large caravans that likely move slower and without the improvisation that your buddies would embrace. My suggestion is to get to know a few local jeepers new and old (on this forum) and nurture the relationship.

Be a leader… or at least a valuable contributor. Tackle the trails that you know you can do with the support from others. Understand your capabilities and that of others. Embrace the challenge of getting ā€˜your’ team through the trail, gaining the experience, friendship, and knowledge for all. Keeping the ā€˜gang’ somewhat small makes it so much more enjoyable (IMO) than a too large a group.

Won’t lie. Seems like you had a bad day OP. But don’t blame the new people. They where with your club and if they where not they where outnlearning how to off road like the rest of us. Seems to me you allowed this to ruin your day instead of making it a good teaching point for the newbies. I For one can’t stand most ā€œclubsā€. they show up with 10-40 rigs ands cause massive delays and think they own the trail and end up ruining the trails for people that go out with 2-5 rigs that just wanna relax and enjoy the views and get stuck if they choose. We
The delays are annoying but I mostly hate as the day goes, more liquid courage is consumed and ppl get stupider. Even so we much prefer going with a small group so we don't have to take two of our rigs. We never serious off road with only one vehicle. My wife prefers to ride along and occasionally drive through a difficult line while I spot. If she has to take a rig, it's the JLR and she takes the easiest lines.

A couple jeeps is a fun time. Any more than that is an orgy. And we all know what happens there.
