Yeah, I'm not really sure of why they would do it that way. I mean, it reads sensors that are physically located on the Jeep and other than coordinate data, I can't think of a reason it needs to be "connected" at all.
“Connectivity” is just the (groan) way things are done nowadays. And if it’s a satellite connection it needs to display GPS coordinates, my iPhone can do that even in “airplane mode” in even the remotest corners that Ive hiked. If it doesn’t make sense why they set it up this way, than the answer is simply because it’s cheaper for the company to do it that way. I think they call it LEAN productivity management.. At least I love my Jeep. I can always paste a photo of my good looking gal in the 8.4 screen window.

@JeepCares
Thank you for your concern. The next day my audio came back. SO all is well at this point.

That's the only "glitch" I've experienced, even though that day I had turned off and on my car a few times while i was running errrands and it never came back. But the next day it did, so we're good!

ORP still running without any issues, the lines on my backup camera are perfectly fine (and always have been).

Let's hope things stay smooth!
Thanks for the feedback, ZonaJP! Glad to hear your concern is resolved.

My Uconnect updated a couple of weeks or so ago, and after getting used to the Jeep phoning hope for permission to show them to me, they've worked well. But, this morning the backup guide lines are missing ... damn! Have done a number of start/stop cycles, but they seem to be truly missing. Please don't make me read through pages and pages of misery ... is there a secret command/process to getting the lines back ... can you direct me to the discussion on it?

The galling thing is that my wife's Summit came with Off Road Pages installed ... they have never disappeared, the lines have never disappeared, and they come up faster than they do on my Wrangler. And, the Summit doesn't have the dreaded Auto Start/Stop feature.

EDIT: Okay, they must have just decided to take the afternoon off. Checked this evening to see if maybe I had inadvertently turned them off, and when backing out of the garage to check them, lo and behold there they were again.

Well well well, got my jeep today and as soon as I turned it on it said, you Uconnect update and started the up date. No option to say yes or no. It only took 18 minutes and when it’s finished it said update completed and I could see a backdrop in my screen from other screens and the longer I left it on the more that faded away and my offer the pages were there, however, within five minutes after that and parenth no option to say yes or no. It only took 18 minutes and when it finished it said update completed and I could see a backdrop in my screen from other screens and the longer I left it on the more that faded away and my off-road pages were there, however, within five minutes after that ( Ben got to take pictures ) all the icons have changed and there is no more Offroad pages. Anybody with advice?

My 4th quarter 2018 Rubicon JL did not come with off road pages but I was gifted it during the infotainment push about a week ago. Super cool addition, can’t wait to actually use it off road. It turns itself off when you exceed trail speeds.

What do you mean by “after getting used to the Jeep phoning hope for permission to show them to me”? They work well?

Welcome to the Pit of Misery. This is happening to all of us. I'm not sure how many of these threads you've visited, but you'll see some of the very same things happening to quite a lot of owners who have, just like you and me, had the ORP at the time of delivery & they went *poof* and have had the update only to either have them go *poof* again, and/or affect other features of the 8.4. If you haven't already, scan this forum for the eleventy-million threads about this. Misery loves company ;)...

What's happened to you isn't unique; it's just that each of us are having random side-effects of the garbage update that "returns" the ORP. My only advice would be to be patient and hang out until another "update" (hopefully) resolves all these problems. I'm sure that would be the advice of many others within the forums. Some will suggest storming the village with pitchforks & flaming torches. Either is acceptable. Reach out to @JeepCares , and a nice representative will request you send them a DM with your VIN & they'll reply with a message saying they'll take this to the appropriate area for review. You still have the ORP features in your cluster, albeit not all in a one-stop shopping place. There's not much else you (or anyone, including FCA) can do at this point. But all congratulations to you on getting your JL. Don't get frustrated about what it doesn't have, instead enjoy it for the countless potential mods you can do and what the Jeep can do (like literally driving over a Prius). Dilly dilly!

Hi,

I’ve been trying to read all threads on this subject but still remain confused. Would anyone mind summarizing the current state for me?

I’m asking because I have a 2018 Rubicon that I bought in late May with the 8.4” display. Last week, I got the OTA update and my backup camera lines disappeared for awhile like a lot of you, but I’ve never seen the Off Road Pages app in the Uconnect menu. I should further say that I haven’t signed up for UConnect or SirriusXM Guardian subscription services, so I was wondering if this is why I haven’t seen anything.

Thanks.

I think this is going to be a nice addition (if I ever get it), but a lot of this is on the driver display. Pitch and roll is the most helpful for me along with the backup camera (which stays on as long as you are going slow.

The current state is what you're experiencing, which is the update coming with collateral damage to some (not all) owners. Not all have received the update; it's entirely possible it may have been delayed again since so many of us are reporting problems to @JeepCares . Who knows... But not having a UConnect or Sirius account isn't the reason why you don't have the app. With all the problems, you're better off without it for now.

I'm one of the lucky few who has experienced very minor issues; i.e. icon placement getting jumbled around. Backup guidelines haven't disappeared and if they did, I wouldn't notice since I don't use the backup camera. It's difficult to summarize the current state since some owners have one type of problem, others have another....such as being prompted for a subscription, even though theirs is current....no latitude/longitude, etc. Many forum members are understandably ignoring new threads about this topic since there's nothing new being posted or reported. Others are stating their disapproval of new threads about an already-bitched about topic ad-nauseum.. Also very understandably so. I've learned to move on to the good stuff... lighting, exterior mods, local threads, etc., but I'll still peek out threads about this ORP stuff to see if anyone has anything new.

I'm confident saying that after spending time on this forum, anyone who receives this update when it becomes available to them will eventually experience some type of problem. This ain't newsbreaking... it's been apparently obvious. So, as the gypsy curse goes... be careful what you wish for... ;)

Update, My apologies on the first paragraph and the repeat paragraph as well! Siri seems to have a huge problem. I do love my jeep and I’ve had it since April, I meant to say just got the update yesterday not just got my Jeep! I was just hoping that they could undo it and reload it like they do sell phones but I guess that would be too difficult, LOL. I go out today and see if anything changed if not what it is what it is right, MoveOn thanks for the reply

Thanks. I’ve been doing the same, mainly for wiring the tow hitch and checking on possibly adding proximity locks.

Not sure if there is any correlation, but I did PM @JeepCares with my VIN several days ago and now my ORP is back. Will see if it sticks this time.
