Anyone install any aftermarket lights yet? There's some good mounts out now and am curious to see how people are routing wires who don't have the auxilliary buttons.

So I took a look and think I've found where to wire through the firewall. Under the hood on the driver's side there is a plastic cap.

Here's the view of the cap from the driver's side footwell. I haven't tried taking it off as I'm not quite sure how it works. Any ideas?

I also found a wire with an open connector in the footwell area as well. Any idea what this would be for?

No these will not allow the windshield to be folded
Thanks for your quick response! Given your experience with making these, do you think it is possible to have cowl lights that do not interfere with the folding of the windshield?

You're welcome. The only way you could have pod mounts not interfere with the ability to fold down the windshield would be to have them mounted on the side of the jeep so they clear the windshield as it folds down so they would stick out past the sides of the jeep

Makes sense. Is that effectively making a bracket that goes in the opposite direction, but with the same mounting points? (I know I am simplifying what that takes, just curious) It could probably stay within the profile of the mirror, so the vehicle wouldn't be any wider, if I am looking at it correctly. Thanks!

Definitely awaiting the over windshield mounts so that way functionality of the windshield remains. Those brackets look really good so hoping for another nice setup for the over windshield mounts.

Hi, I am planning to install LED bar and cube lights this weekend on my automatic Rubicon JL. Were you able to figure out how to pass the wires through the firewall from the driver side? I have read there is a plug under the hood and then also on automatic JL there is a way to pass through a plug on the extreme left of footwell (where clutch is in manual). Not sure what is the best option to run the wires.

Yeah. That plastic cap has tabs on the interior that can be squeezed which will let it pop out on the engine side.

I popped out the cap and used a rotary tool to make a hole in the cap... This lead to hearing a lot of engine noise however so I then put a rubber strip across the hole of the cap which sealed the wires :).

I since have installed the S Tech switch kit which is definitely a more factory looking option.

Does the Artec hood mount whistle at speed with the 50" bar?
