I can't imagine hauling that Harbor Freight monster around and then having to load and unload it to fix a flat. I would need to carry another jack just to jack that jack up enough that I could get it back in the Jeep.

I have a couple of questions about the "Double Ram" jack. First does the top screw out like most bottle jacks and how does it do with leaking? I would have to store it on the side.

I got a flat the other day and had my "Safe Jack" with me but it only has a little over a 5 inch throw and wouldn't lift the tire off the ground (37's). I was glad I had a couple of 2x4's to put under the factory jack.
I recall the popularity of the Safe Jack a while back. The theory was great. But I wasn't sure how it could do in actual use. I had my eye on that double ram jack for some time now. But the reality is that I have about enough jacks for a Jamboree at this point.

I recall the popularity of the Safe Jack a while back. The theory was great. But I wasn't sure how it could do in actual use. I had my eye on that double ram jack for some time now. But the reality is that I have about enough jacks for a Jamboree at this point.
I considered the Safe Jack myself until I had a moment on a trail where I was hung up on a rock in such a way where the only option was to jack the vehicle up via the axle tube to stuff rocks under a tire to clear the obstruction. I couldn’t get my bottle jack under it. I ended up using the factory scissor jack which was a little unnerving. I since ordered this and it’s been awesome:

I didn’t end up using the mounting plate since that’s more for a race truck but I didn’t care, what I really wanted was that top plate. It cradles the axle tube perfectly or the differential housing depending on which way you turn it. I’ve already used it a couple times to test it out and it is super stout.

I built a couple of similar jacks on some 24" 7500 lb RV jacks. They work well when you have level ground. But can be a problem if the jack isn't sitting square and flat on the ground. We used it on the Rubicon and it was a problem in the situation we were in. I think having at least two jack options is good, more is better. There is no one jack is best for all situations, IMO. On my last outing, there were at least 3 jacks in my jeep.

I just got my 8" extension for my Pro Eagle. I swapped it for the 15" I originally ordered.

I like the stability this jack brings. It's about 35lbs so not insanely heavy. I can put it in the back of the Jeep on wheeling trips and ratchet strap it down.

I will say that hydraulic hi lift @roaniecowpony lent to me for my last wheeling trip came in very handy when we had to change a tire out on the trail. 👍

If I had unlimited budget I'd buy both to bring for wheeling trips. The hi lift is a lot easier to operate for me for sure. Just not the most stable option out on an uneven trail.

I got to use my Eagle Pro out on the trail this weekend when @Pig-Pen got a flat. I'm so glad I bought that thing. Totally worth the money and the small space it takes up in the back of the Jeep. It really saved us a huge amount of time.
