I went from a 04 TJ to my 19 JL and I'm in love. :involve: carry on :captain:
I did the same thing. 04 Rubi to a 18 MOAB, and I couldn’t be happier. Having owned two CJ’s, a TJ, and three JKs I can see where @MimiD is coming from. I’m happy with the comfort and quietness, when I want the authentic “Jeep rattle” I’ll buy a second one for a toy.

I understand and agree in some ways

So why not buy a 2017 JK or earlier ?

I mean this thread kinda bashes what FCA has done to these Rigs after hearing all the JK complaints over the past 12 years
We already have a JK, in fact we have had a lot of JK’s. They are to soft too compared to the older, smaller ones. I guess on this forum, most won’t understand. Not talking about you Dan, but a lot here, are first time Jeep owners, or come from the JK. And it seems most here don’t wheel, but bought the JL for the “cool” factor. Not a bad thing necessarily, just feeling like the title of the thread I guess.

We have to be careful how we convey what we want to put out there these days

people don't listen to understand anymore ...they listen to reply

OP, I remember riding in a TJ new, it rode smoothly, wasn't all that loud ect... fast forward 20 years later when I'm riding in my friend's TJ and this thing feels like its going to explode just getting on a US route highway... Its the years of abuse that make the older Jeeps feel that way. Give it time and your JL will start to ping your memories.

A lot
I don’t mean to rain on anyone’s parade. I am aware that most people here are pretty enthusiastic about their new JL. I got mine 3 days ago. As mentioned in a previous post, this is my 6th Jeep. I’ve had 1 YJ, 2 TJs and 2 JKUs. I must say I am deeply disappointed with this new model. It no longer feels or sounds like a Jeep. It feels and sounds like a SUV.

I understand that FCA wants to broaden its market as much as possible. The general population has appropriated itself of a vehicle that used to belong to a small fringe. Within that scope, kudos to FCA. But I’m nostalgic for the uniqueness of the sensation of a Jeep, when it felt and sounded more like a truck. As in everything else, I suppose I’ll get used to it. But I doubt there’ll be a 7th.
What's keeping you from purchasing a previous model? The one you appreciated the most? Your comments could be applied to any vehicle on the market with similar history. People buy older stuff all the time and there's tons of used jeeps for sale. You can't compare any new vehicle to the ones from 10-30 years ago. I've owned all the Jeeps you have. If I wanted another YJ or whatever, it would be in my garage...

I will get a 7th, possibly an 8th and 9th depending how long I live on this rock.

I like seeing the evolution of the wrangler

You do know you can sell the JL and buy a TJ, YJ, CJ and build it to sound and drive like the nostalgic feeling you want?
Hell, you can even put a Bluetooth radio in one.

Personally I like the JL more than my YJ, TJ or XJ by far...will it last as long? probably not, is it still a Jeep? yes it is.

Maybe FCA should say hey...fuck the EPA and CAFE, and all the regulations and make a wrangler that won't sell in todays market.
That is when you buy an old one and fix it up, or buy a JL and put in a 4.0 and suspension from a TJ

My JL looks and sounds unlike any SUV I have driven...still feels like a jeep to me, and gives me the same smile my YJ and TJ did.

They did a Fantastic job with the JL, sorry you don't think so...does the milk man still deliver your milk too?

Just remember, whatever the current jeep model is, it's not a "real" jeep ;) Same thing with Harleys, go over to that forum and see how much hate there was on the Twin Cam engine (doesn't sound like a Harley, not enough vibration, etc) right up until the Milwaukee 8 came out and now you here the same complaints about the M8 but the TC is awesome. ;)

Also wanted to mention that I test drove a JLUS, and the suspension was much softer and car like then my Rubi, which does feel like a Jeep to me. My '15 silverado, however, drove like a caddy ;)

Most of what you are complaining about can be attributed to the government and all their mandated safety BS. There's also no law that says you can't own a JL and a <insert old nostalgic wrangler model of choice>.

Kinda funny,..If I want to drive a Jeep with a loud and obnoxious ride, I will take my '17 SRT for a spin (a few mods have altered the stock ride and drive).
I actually enjoy the relative "serenity" of my wifes '19 Sahara JLU..!

Tires makes a big difference. When I had the stock Kevlars I thought the ride was too nice. Switched to Duratracs and she feels like a Jeep again.

If the only thing that bothers you is the sound, why not just upgrade the exhaust? Problem solved...

Da Fuq? What in the hell are you blathering about? I haven’t gone anywhere, the OP doesn’t need me to defend her, and I haven’t deleted any posts.

Reading your posts leads me to believe that:

A. You have suffered a severe head injury
B. Are a raging alcoholic
C. Are so stupid you can’t tell your ass from a hole in the ground

When you’re done licking the window, please share the correct answer.

B. Sorry.

Actually I think Jeep has done an amazing job of keeping the classic feel. Few other vehicles (maybe even none) have done that. Want that classic muscle car look and feel? Gotta shell out the bucks for a restored classic. The Jeep is one of the few, if not only vehicles you can get that stays true to the roots, including the JL.
