Troy from Raleigh. Just picked mine up today.

So what are the good trails at uwharrie to start with? What to avoid until you get a bit more comfortable?
Here are a few pics of my stock JKU Rubicon and a friend's stock JK X 2 Door on Daniel. The harder trails can be done without too much issue. Just depends on your confidence level and whether or not you're prepared to break something. (Financially) Honestly, when I went wheeling this day, I was not prepared! Lol. However, I didn't break anything. Just tore up my cross member, which was later replaced since it looked like a crushed pop can. This trip also taught me about the rear diff cover on the JK and how easily it peels back. Luckily it peeled, but didn't leak. Both the cross member and diff issues on the JK were fixed on the JL.

Don't let the pics fool you. Some of these spots had some pucker factor in a stocker.

Checking out the trail map below from Uwharrie, you'll want to stay away from Daniel and Dickey Bell. They're all doable, but if you want to practice and have a good time, you can do any of the rest. The trails aren't difficult and there's plenty of opportunity to either go around larger obstacles or points in the trail to turn around and go the other way if you feel uncomfortable. Don't be afraid to get out there with your new Jeep though. The machine will do great. There are some spots where you'll use the skid plates even on the easiest trails. Either way, you'll have a blast.

Any of the parking areas on 553 or 576 are good places to enter the trails.

I grew up in Albemarle, real close to Uwharries. Live in Raleigh now, but my parents still live there so I think I need to visit them more now that I have the Jeep..lol.

Thanks for the map. I want to get some experience with the A's first and see how I feel.

Oh, I have a Sport S manual. Love cigars so hoping I could do some trails with a stogie. Manual makes it a bit harder to hold a cigar.

Oh yeah, man. Got to take advantage being that close to the trails.

Just put it in 4 LO and you'll have all the time you need to smoke a stogie.

New member, been lurking for a bit. Old TJ owner, getting back to Jeep. Looking for an Ocean Blue/Tan combo in SE NC. Anyone know of anything on the lot yet? Would like to see the combo in person if possible. May order exactly what I want but I am pretty flexible. Sport S with options like automatic, tow package, Alpine, and Tech group are enough to get me by for now. Prefer soft top.

Willing to step up to Sahara too but like to keep cost below $45K.

If you bought that one in Kernersville, I might have taken that on a test drive before I settled on the one I bought. Thumbs up!

Nope, we got it at Ilderton, great service and sales people. Never step into Kernersville Dodge again.

Not that I'm here to bash any dealership, BUT... I've lived in Kernersville for 12 years now and every experience with Kernersville Dodge has been terrible! I live 4 miles from the dealership and never took my JK back there for service nor did I buy it there, buy my Mom's Renegade there, or order my JL from there. I gave them an opportunity to sell me the JL. I figured I didn't have anything to lose since there was no haggling over a special order at 5% below invoice. Ha! I as wrong there! I ended up ordering from Darcars in Maryland. There's a few stories best shared over a campfire and beer, but needless to say, I agree with you. I drive by and look at their Jeeps after 9pm, but that's the extent of it now.

Wilmington NC here, wish I was closer to Uhwarrie's. Plenty of beach driving here though if you're ever out this way!
I make my way out there a few times a year. I usually stop at Busco Beach in Goldsboro. Not for the Jeep though; for the KTM. It is nice to just jump on 40 and drive til it ends. That's convenient.

Are Y'all serious about Kernersville Dodge? I've had nothing but success there. They just let me drive off in multiple vehicles on unsupervised test drives on multiple occasions, kept in good contact with me throughout the order process and gave me a much better offer than North Point CJDR. And when I decided to buy one off the lot they were very helpful and let me drive my Jeep home without the loan check, or the title to my trade in. My only wish was i was hoping for more for the trade.

Yeah, man. Glad you had success there. This last experience of mine was the nail in the coffin, especially when I confronted them about the 5% below invoice pricing a bunch of dealerships were doing for new JL orders. The sales lady when as far as calling the dealership in Maryland I ordered mine from and saying the guy was full of shit. The dealer in Maryland called me and said I must've really made her mad. All I did was FWD their offer to the sales lady at Kernersville Dodge and after that I didn't hear a thing from them again, from her or my actual salesman. I went through this with them when I bought my JK back in 2014. I ended up going to Steve White Motors and buying it there from Bruce Lee. (Yes, that's his real name and an awesome guy to work with). Even he said they couldn't touch the 5% below invoice pricing there, but he was very professional about it. This other lady went off the deep end. I bought my mom's renegade from a different dealer, as well. I went and looked at a white renegade, checked everything out, drove it, and said let's do this. I had a trip to go on and said I'll be back in a week to pick it up. When I went to pick it up, it had a different set of wheels on it. Salesman swore up and down that I was wrong, but then I showed him pictures I had taken the day of the test drive. It was such a pain in the ass and the attitude I received, I backed out of the deal. Just a few bad experiences has ruined it for me. I'm sure they're good people, but it's like kicking a cat. Trust is gone. Anyway... Glad you did well there. Lol. I need a beer now.

Well damn! lol As long as you got the best deal for yours I won't tell you where to buy from. I'm just surprised at how they treated you. But I suppose each of us has a different experience. I shopped around and the best offer I got from North Point was 500 off MSRP if I ordered with them. Kernersville offered 38,000ish (I forgot exact amount) for a 40,500 MSRP order. I managed to get the Sahara off the lot for a few grand off the MSRP but is wasn't as steep as the discounts on the Ram Trucks they offer. Honestly I would have waited for the order, but the transmission on the trade-in was about to blow and I either needed to trade right then or replace the tranny and wait till next year for the Jeep.
