No 4.88 gears?

I'm working on my Rubicon build and I chose the 22R package which is the 2.0L w 8sp auto. What is the ratinale behind not allowing gears except on the base engine trans? The 8Sp auto doesn't need the gears?

Only available with the manual trans. Auto trans makes up for the difference with the torque converter.

I’m not sure that it does. The crawl ratio is 100:1 with the 6 speed and the 4:88 gears. That’s why Jeep is offering it. To compete/beat Fords ratio. There’s no difference in the automatics crawl ratio from last year that I’ve heard of.
