ok, but when do we think the NEXT NEXT one will be??
Mid cycle means we are at half life. So 4~5 more years. I am liking this mid cycle refresh, other than the grill. That Willys with rear locker looks like it "might" be a hot deal. But my Jeep has plenty of life ahead. At end of JL life my Jeep will be almost 10 years old lol. I don't wanna end up like those guys driving a 2018 JK. I am also not the kind that changes cars like underwear, that's just such a waste of money. So when I get a car I commit to at least 7 years. 5 years if it turns out to be a pos.

OH right, so I must be wrong because you can't SEE the changes. It's incredible to me that you think this is a reasonable response. But you aren't the only curmudgeon who's feelings are apparently hurt by my sharing of information so I guess it's a thing.

I never said the frame change was "obviously to clear 37s". I said it was obviously for tire clearance. That led me to SPECULATE that there would be a factory 37 option...and as we all know, I could still be right about that. When did the XR package launch? Think about that.

That said, with the information you already got from me, I shouldn't need to explain what changed about the frame - use your knowledge about the vehicle you know and some deductive reasoning. The rail spacing has changed - which necessitated the relocation of several brackets and mount points on both the frame and the tub. It also required the redesign of the winch - because it physically wouldn't fit between the rails. I knew about this before the I6 was announced, and when it was speculated that it might make it to the JL, someone mentioned that it was probably too big to fit the current JL without frame modification, and then that "wait a minute!" lightbulb went off in my head - maybe the frame modification was for more than just tire and suspension clearance....maybe they ARE going to stuff that motor in there. So that's why I posted.

Again, I never stated as fact anything more than the frame had changed and that there were a few other changes necessitated by that change. Everything else was my own speculation, and I made that clear. The rest was added by you and a couple other members who were, for some reason, deeply offended that I would share some interesting information I had learned.
Because you passed it off as a all new frame and tub, and there was no sign of that happening yet. Still hasn't really. Because if the changes are so minute that they are not even discussed yet, or visible, then I would call it an updated design, not all new. And you were the one who got upset when an established member of the community, who is also a automotive journalist, made the joke about how there is always someone who knows a guy, who's brother told him a secret about the Wrangler.

So then you agree that this whole debacle is over your opinion of what a "refresh" is.

And you were the one who got upset when an established member of the community, who is also a automotive journalist, made the joke about how there is always someone who knows a guy, who's brother told him a secret about the Wrangler.
No. I was not the one who got upset. I was perfectly calm until I started getting flat out attacked by you and others because I shared interesting information that I happened to know. You and several others were acting very childish over what should have just been a fun discussion. It's quite ridiculous.

You just did. You questioned my "resume" and then countered with your own.

I dunno what your problem is but I couldn't care less what you think about what's happening with the Wrangler. I'm just sharing what i've learned. Want to stay in the dark? Cool.
Yeah, no you definitely kept your cool. And the thread about the 24 is even titled as a refresh, as well as the corporate goons calling it that.

Still semantics. Doesn't change the fact that the information I shared was/is true. So i'd appreciate if you could refrain from attacking me because you disagree on the definition of a word.

That statement is also directed at the other angry old men who did same. It's not my fault that things change - i'll be angry about it too someday.

Nobody has attacked you. We called into question your statements. Because it was BS. Still is. And we've been through this before, and I'm sure we will again. You claimed all new, several times, and it's not. It's just some minor changes. If you had been more humble, and not been a raging lunatic when questioned about it, it would have been history long ago. But you keep passing off your "knowledge" as correct and verifiable. So I keep drudging up this BS to remind people of the quality of your information.

Ok yeah just as I thought. You aren't interested in a resolution. Still just trying to save face. If you can sit there after this discussion and STILL try to claim that what I told you was coming is BS, then there's no point in continuing further. No one needs you to verify info for them. They are perfectly capable of seeing for themselves. The truth is you want to obscure what they see with what you want them to see.

Stay comfy in your echo chamber like the others.

You are the one who is unwilling, or incapable of admitting that you made claims that just aren't true. You claimed all new frame and tub, and clearance for 37s. None of which is really true. The truth is that the frame has some slight changes, minor. And this may have caused a body mount to be relocated, again a small change. And none of these were done to clear larger tires, which was your stated opinion that you portrayed as absolute originally. So those of us who called into question the veracity of your comments, because there were no other hints at any MAJOR changes like you claimed, were correct in doing so.

If there are going to be major changes it will be in the proper channels for this kind of thing. Mules will have to be built for the safety and testing purposes, leaks will go to automotive journalists, Brenda Priddy and folks like her will get spy shots with all the ridiculous camo wrap. There are reasons why you were called out as bogus information. You can call it semantics, but words have meaning. This is a refresh. Everyone but you agrees on that. And that was the main basis of your claim, more than just a refresh.

Can't let it go huh? Ok...

You claimed all new frame and tub, and clearance for 37s. None of which is really true.
Again, those claims are verifiably true. Furthermore, you are in no place whatsoever to question them as you literally have no clue.

The truth is that the frame has some slight changes, minor. And this may have caused a body mount to be relocated, again a small change. And none of these were done to clear larger tires, which was your stated opinion that you portrayed as absolute originally.
So the reprofiling of frame members, a change to the overall dimensions of the frame, and several relocated mount points are MINOR changes?

This is a subjective disagreement but IMO you're trying to minimize to save face.

If there are going to be major changes it will be in the proper channels for this kind of thing. Mules will have to be built for the safety and testing purposes, leaks will go to automotive journalists, Brenda Priddy and folks like her will get spy shots with all the ridiculous camo wrap.
There was major changes, and there were test mules. Why would they bother to camo wrap a frame?

Everyone but you agrees on that. And that was the main basis of your claim, more than just a refresh.
It is. Who is everyone? You have a society of rodents in your pocket? There were like three of you that argued with me about this. There is currently a 31-page thread full of members discussing the slew of changes with this new Wrangler.

Again, this focus on the definition of one word isn't going to save you. Words have meanings....that in this case differ depending on perspective. We disagree on what to call this new Wrangler, but it doesn't matter. Again, what I said was coming is here, regardless of what you call it.

So this thread has been resurrected almost a year and a half later just to dunk on someone?
Yes, I called it a victory lap but that's exactly what he's doing. And the best part is, he's the one who was wrong.

Anyway, I apologize for this. I need to just hit the block button and move on.

It was resurrected because in another thread you claimed that you clearly foretold what was coming with your inside information, but that's just not true. I don't care if you block me, your opinion has no merit to me anyway.

I can't tell you what a grille is going to look like by looking at a bare frame, sorry. Again, you are assigning claims to me that I never made. The facts that I shared, and are now verifiable, were that the frame was redesigned (and as a result the tub would have changes too), and that there would be some really cool factory available accessory packages...and I know this because I know the guy who created those packages, and I saw the frame because it was on hand for the designing of those packages. I then made some further educated guesses about what else may be coming due to what I knew about the frame. THAT IS ALL. You and a few others then proceeded to add claims to what I actually said and then also tried to call me out on the claims that you created and assigned to me.

Honestly, I don't care if you eat crow or not. I know you'll never admit I was right. But you're not going to take a victory lap for a race you lost.
What is different about the frame? They removed that recalled frame stud that might poke a hole in the gas tank?
