With VW's official launch of the Scout Motors website, we'd like to invite everyone interested to a new sister-site for the Scout EV pickup & SUV:

ScoutEVforum -- https://www.scoutevforum.com/

And here's the new Scout official teaser just posted by VW / Scout:

Thanks for sharing and creating the site. It will be interesting to see how successful these turn out to be.

Interested in seeing actual production-ready pics. Loved the original Scout.

Nice work Jay, congratulations on launching the site. Forgive the naive question but this is the first I've heard of this vehicle. Is this Scout some how attempting to ride the coat tails of the old, International Scout (we knew them as Binders)? Wondering what the connection is - or if the name is simply a product of VW marketing? Some of the lines and proportions do resemble the old Binder's.

Volkswagen owns International, through Navistar, so they have the rights to the Scout name.

Until they figure out how to incorporate "on the go" charging such as solar or regenerative charging systems an EV 4x4 to me is completely useless. Great for around town but not for their intended purpose

Competition raises prices.
This must be the facetiousness mentioned in your footnote.... the reason you can get a 50" flat panel for $400 these days is due to competition. And why prescription medicine protected by IP (no competition) costs 1000x the price to manufacture.

That's due to changes in technology, not competition.

I'm a huge Scout fan. I've put out a WARNO to the wife that her Jeep will be replaced with a Scout if it's any good.

That said, I'm on the Scout Motors forum heavily already, just kicking around ideas and what not. The two admins are offroaders themselves with Scout history. One(Chris) currently has a TJUR w/manual.

What's interesting is Equus came out with their e-Scout that they then apparently had to rename the e4x4... but you can still see e-Scout on the dash lol

In any case, so far via the CEO of Scout Motor Co. and this new site/forum, it feels as though there's a passion for the Scout from the company itself. Which is an excellent start if nothing else.
