Any particular "brand" of black lugs nuts that will stay black that I should look for?Yeah- you need black ones
Sorry- don’t know if steel and aluminum use the same. But, I had to get new spline lugs for new wheels because the socket rubbed them with the OEM style.
I had quality higher dollar McGard OEM style, the Gorilla’s are less expensive but reportedly also good quality. Less than 2 months old so I can’t verify, others have though.Any particular "brand" of black lugs nuts that will stay black that I should look for?

Found out when the tires were mounted and they started to install them, fortunately, they had black Gorilla splines in stock.

I've had my black gorilla splines on the Wrangler for a minute now. Maybe like a year, maybe a year and a half, they're rusting..I had quality higher dollar McGard OEM style, the Gorilla’s are less expensive but reportedly also good quality. If you're buying these new, they should come with new nuts. It looks like factory ones are conical seat, which is the same as most aftermarket wheels. So good either way.Hello Jeeper family…

The car shop I deal with asked me to provide nut sets myself as new wheels won’t come with nuts. I have a high doubt about itIf you're buying these new, they should come with new nuts. It looks like factory ones are conical seat, which is the same as most aftermarket wheels. So good either way.
“Steel can corrode and push against the nut’s chrome cover, causing it to enlarge. This can happen naturally through galvanic corrosion. When two dissimilar metals are exposed to one common electrolyte, one of the metals can corrode. Force can also accelerate the swelling of a lug nut. Removing lug nuts with cheap impact sockets can cause the top chrome layer to loosen and create an opening for water, salt, and corrosion.”My sister took her 3013 JK to a Discount Tire store for rotate and balance. The tech told her her lugs were "swollen" and she needed new ones. What people won't do for a dollar. Can you believe this?
This happens all the time up north. Certain nuts have an outer sleeve that does swell with rust. You have to hammer the socket on when this happens. It can become a real hassle and then sometimes that layer falls off and the socket is too big.My sister took her 3013 JK to a Discount Tire store for rotate and balance. Yes. As the preceding posts mention, moisture infiltration can cause swelling. The chrome facing can also begin to separate, which may also look like swelling, if an impact driver is recurringly used. Granted, that also crosswalks to the middling quality of some OEM lug nuts.My sister took her32013 JK to a Discount Tire store for rotate and balance. Gorillas seems good, I didn't notice any issues with chipping or anything else when I rotated the tires lastAny particular "brand" of black lugs nuts that will stay black that I should look for?
Not Titanium. Titanium is very prone to galling. Galling in threads is a very bad thing.I've had my black gorilla splines on the Wrangler for a minute now. Maybe like a year, maybe a year and a half, they're rusting..

I've been meaning to upgrade them to a better quality steel lug nut, or ideally a titanium one, I just haven't gotten around to it. I mean these are still steel, so they're holding up just fine. A little bit of rust isn't going to kill them, at least not yet anyways.
