Hi all,

This is my new(to me) Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Sport S w/ the 3.6 v6.
Jeep Wrangler JL New JL owner 20231025_173610

I was previously part of the TJ scene, but my wife and I decided to retire it and upgrade. Overall I love the thing(it's so much more refined than my tj was). I'd like to say our purchase has gone off without a hitch, but after 2 weeks of ownership. But The pesky stop/start feature left me stranded at an intersection Monday( I wasn't able to shift it into neutral either), I stopped at the light, the jeep shut off and didn't start back up, it started telling me "keyfob not found"( I did have the key), and the wipers started going crazy out of nowhere and soon it started showing tell-tale signs of a low battery. I got it towed to a shop and they replaced the main battery on the dealers dime. As a previous Wrangler owner, I know they can be finicky and it comes with the territory, but I wasn't expecting that. Hopefully this isn't reflecting the fiat aspect of our JL. I've already looked into buying that start/stop bypass kit, and just make sure to shut the stop/start function off manually everything I drive it now because at this point I don't trust the function, haha.

Besides that mishap, I'm loving the thing though!

Hey, I'm a new Jeeper myself! (You're one up on me, however, since you've already owned a TJ.) Sucks what you had to go through with the Start-Stop and battery issues, but hopefully it's buttery smooth from hereon out.

Nehooo, welcome to the club!

If you don't have eTorque, I would highly suggest replacing the AUX battery as well.

I'm pretty sure somebody's already said it at this point, but make sure you replace the auxiliary battery since it sounds like the dealership didn't. When one goes, they both go, and if you don't replace both of them at the same time one of them acts like a venomous snake and poisons the other one, then next thing you know you left with two dead batteries again.

Maybe it's just me, but I'm starting to feel like all used JL Wranglers were only sold because they were starting to suck. I feel like buying a used JL is basically like buying someone else's broken crap.

I'm normally one for buying used vehicles, in fact the wife and I's current two vehicles are the only vehicles that we've over owned which weren't pre-owned. I've always had good luck with pre-owned vehicles for the most part. But every time I read a story about someone purchasing a used Wrangler JL, it always seems to end with "well a few weeks later..."

The battery problem is real. You need to change out both at the same time. The bad battery will kill the good one. The two battery system can be a pain. You can delete the small battery. And if I did not have a etorque system I might

Remove the AUX battery and delete the ESS. Lots of threads and ideas on how to do that.
