Did you have the cruise control recall done before this particular visit to the dealership? I read that the cruise control recall also flashes the system, which should have also done this same thing as TSB 08-092-18, but I'm not sure if that is true or not.
Yes. The cruise recall was done on 5/23, which was a month before I bought the vehicle. As OUTLANDERBZ said, the TSB came out in July after the cruise recall. The notes on that cruise recall #U62 says it flashed the ECM/PCM (Engine Control and Software). The notes on the TSB flash the BCM (Body Control Module). Thats got to be the difference and why we are seeing the TSB apply the fix.

Not the Person you’re asking direct but I had my cruise recall done June 19th and there was no change. I did read that this TSB came out at the beginning of July so could there have been an update after my appointment or was it and just didn’t correct my issues?
The steering TSB supposedly came out about July 7th. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

Is it easy to adjust the ball joints?
There no such thing as adjusting the ball joints, it is tightening the connection point of the ball joint shaft.

Got my spring isolator for the lift done, the flash updates and the cruise control recall done today. What a difference. If I thought it was going to be that significant I would’ve brought it in a while ago

Steering TSB 08-092-18 did not fix my issue. I really feel like the wandering and looseness is worse than when I took it in. I may do a video here shortly to compare to my previous one.

You need to check your ball joints.

Thanks. Unfortunately, I already did and so did the dealership. They are at 70lbs torque, to spec.

How can that be when most of us are getting positive results. You validated the TSB stool and it was the correct one?

Correction: The TSB took****
Is there any way to see which "version" that the system was flashed to? That would help, just like on computers, mobile phones, etc. when knowing what software version you have to double-check.

Did you have the steering box adjusted yet? Here is an excellent video about the adjustment:

No steering box adjustments yet. Dealer won't do it because it's not a fix issued by FCA apparently. Seems that just some dealerships are trying this and not all since nothing has been formerly posted about it.

Tbh, I'm not going to worry too much about it on this Jeep. I just wanted to report that it did not fix mine. They are doing a buy back and I won't have it for long anyway... maybe another 30 days or less if they just provide me another rental car.

So I had to drive good ole I-85 to one of my jobs today. And I have to admit, man she drove great. Granted it is not 100% fixed and there is still the 1/4 dead spot which you can see toward the end of the video, But I was actually driving 75 + - beside 18 wheelers and not having to death grip my steering wheel. I mean I cannot tell you how relieved I am.

Corporate FCA did call again today to confirm the steering box though is still on order, but back order should arrive sometime within a week or so and hopefully will be the final fix.

I tightened the mounting bolt on the four ball joints to seat the taper to specs this evening. Only one of the four was more than finger tight ... the cotter pin was the only thing stopping the nuts from vibrating off.

I would say that 1/3 of the steering wheel play has disappeared. Didn't really expect that much of an improvement, so was quite happy.

Had to use a combination wrench and a luggage scale to torque the upper ball joint ... no room for a socket and my torque wrench. Otherwise it was a quick and easy job.

I dropped my JL Rubicon off this morning to my local dealer to fix my wandering speedometer issues.

They have known about my steering issues since I bought it new in April. Wandering on the road, and dead spot of about an inch in each direction from dead center (basically all the issues everyone has been talking about).

The Lead Tech working on my JL today found a new TSB that came out last night and applied the update to mine.

He explained it to me that the hydro-assist was turned down from 0 to -8 in my Rubicon.

I got in and immediately noticed that the steering was a little more difficult to turn, but not bad. I would say if is was 100% before it might me 150% now.

My dead spot is GONE, and it drives straight! Feels like any other SUV or truck that I have driven.

I do not have a TSB number, and it is not listed on my paperwork.

I wanted to let everyone know if you are having the steering issues to get it to your local dealer and have them apply/flash the steering update.
I have had the same issue with my JL Unlimited since day 1. I contacted my dealer and he found the TSB # 08-092-18 and applied the fix this morning. During the ride home my jeep steered like a new vehicle. I was able to feel quite at home driving with with my arm rested on the window ledge and controling the jeep with my thumb and index finger. I am so glad it is fixed.
