I have a 2018 JLUR 3.6L 8AT and I was driving it then came to a stop, the engine turned off and then had to put it in park and start it again, the auto start stop light came on.

It didn't do that every time I came to a stop though, just sometimes. My dad looked and said the starter is sparking.

I dropped it off at the dealer Monday, they said their 3 days behind and will take 3 days to look at it. So today they should be getting to it but I know this dealer sucks

Also told them that my heated seat only stays on for a few mins then won't turn on again also the sun visor is hanging too. Hopefully they fix those 2 problems too
----------------------------------------------------------
Mon 7/24/23 dropped it off

Thursday 7/27/23
the dealer texted me
"Good afternoon. Your Jeep has been assigned to a technician, and he said that he should be able to get a diagnosis late tomorrow or early Monday. I will keep you posted."

Monday 7/31/23
They diagnosed it

Thursday 8/3/23 it was ready for pick up

If you're on original/OEM batteries, you definitely need the dealer to load test them. You don't mention what engine you have, so you may or may not have an aux battery. Either way, you are likely dealing with one or two dead batteries.

Starters are easy enough for a low level dealer tech to replace. No big deal, sucks to be out of a Jeep for a while though.

On the Sun visor, take a look around at some of the reinforcement brackets that have been designed for the JL. They are cheap enough, and fix this issue well.

The seat heater part sucks. If the grid is bad, the seats will have to be torn apart and that’s a crapshoot.

Oh, and this isn’t stalling. It’s just a fail to start.

Are you sure you didn’t forget to push the stop start off button. It has to be pushed every time you start the engine for it to cancel the stop start function. Read your owners manual on the stop start system.

I've replaced both batteries December/2022, I have the 3.6L 8AT

Lets hope so, well it was starting fine but when I got off the freeway and stopped at a red light the engine would die and I would have to shift to park and start it again then put it in drive

No I would never turn off the start stop, when I got off the freeway and stopped on a red light the engine would turn off, I'd have to shift to park and start the jeep again then shift to drive.

The stop start shuts the engine off when you come to a stop and it meets all the criteria listed in your owners manual. It is supposed to save gas. If you wait a little bit, it will restart on its own. That is why the light comes on when you put it in park and restart the engine. Please just read about the the stop start function in your owners manual.

To be clear, you tried letting off the brake pedal and it failed to restart, right?

Are you 100% sure you just weren't experiencing the normal ESS (Engine Stop/Start) function?

Mine restarts when you put in park, which seems dumb if you ask me. If I pull in say the wallymart and into a spot the engine shuts off so you put it in park to get out but it restarts. Kinda stupid

Do the ess (little battery) jeeps act different from the etorque equipped jeeps? Mine is etorque equipped, so it restarts with the generator/serpentine belt not the actual starter.

Lol I've had my JLUR since March 2018, the engine completely turned off when I stopped at a light. You can pump the gas and brakes it wasn't going no where, the engine turned completely off and it started to do this every once in a while when coming to a stop.

Yup pressed on the gas and brakes, nothing, you can tell the engine completely turned off, ive had my JLUR since March 2018 it definitely wasn't the start/stop activating. Engine died couldn't even start it again because it was in drive. You had to shift to park and start it again by press the start engine button

Maybe it’s time for a new Jeep.

Sounds like a bad starter. Could be a battery problem but I doubt it. The system is really sensitive to weak batteries.
