So, you're part of the >50% of people this has happened to, yours truly included. I don't know how much of an actual difference it makes functionally to have it upside down or installed correctly. However, although I generally try to be a good person, this does provide you a free pass to make it crystal clear without a doubt how incompetent your service department is and you can show them to their faces. Depending on how animated you choose to be in person at the service department, you can definitely have the upper hand with negotiations. Even further, you can call them and tell them that due to their blatant incompetence (reference the sticker here) they will be towing your jeep back to the service department on their dime and fixing it immediately. Also suggest to them that it would be in their best interest to not let the fact that they incorrectly installed a critical steering component potentially putting you, your family and other drivers at risk become a "big thing" and give you a nice discount on parts through their parts department into purpetuity.Had my first experience of DW tonight taking my wife to dinner. Hit a bump on the road at about 40mph or so, and it set it in motion, violently shaking. Temps are in the high 40s here in south LA. My Jeep is a 2018 that I ordered in July of 18, it has right at 18,500 miles now. It was recently in service for jeep wave oil change and tire rotation. Service adviser also told me they did the V41 recall. That was about 200 miles ago.![]()
Got home a bit ago and checked the new dampener and sure enough, installed backward. Not sure if I should just fix it myself or take it back. Not really keen on putting it on the road again till it’s fixed (dealer is about 30 minutes away) also thinking about rotating tires again just in case one is out of balance.
For what it’s worth, I’ve never had the issue before this and tires are on their 3rd rotation. I put lift and tires on @ 87 miles on jeep, so unless the original dampener was masking some other issues, it’s got to be the recent work done that has caused this.
