Our lowest temp so far this Fall/Winter has been 9 above 0. Normally w/o the block heater attached, my coolant and oil temps are within 10 degrees of ambient temperature. I do not have a heated garage. I forgot to take pics that day but here is an example from this AM. You can see the outside temp and the coolant/oil temp respectively.
This next pic is of the timer which I have my extension cord plugged into. I have found that the sweet spot (length of time activated) is about 3 hours. Using the timer saves on electricity.
This last pic is my MOUSE-deterrent set-up. When I get home, I open the hood so there is no warm/dark spot for the mice to gravitate towards, and the engine cools down. When the system kicks on, the mice-noise-making devices come on along with the block heater. It worked last Winter so fingers crossed again.
