I agree, it would reduce engine wear dramatically. Very cold starts will wear your motor more than you think. 75% Of engine wear is on cold start up until warm.
I understand that the life of the DPF is also improved. All that startup black smoke you used to see before emissions control is worse at cold temps. On my RV I plug it in the night before traveling if overnight temps are less than 32F. I plan to do the same with the Jeep.

DPF'S are damaged by oil, during cold starts oil will pass by internal engine parts ( rings, valve seats and guides )until they are warmed up and expand. A block heater will help with that also. Also NEVER overfill your engine oil, that will also take out a DPF very fast.

Never had issues with my Ram 5.9L or 6.7L diesels in cold weather, down to -34°, however my wife's gasser wouldn't start until it warmed up to +10°. my dad a had an old 12 valve Ram diesel and that bitch was hard starting at anything below freezing.

I think I'd plug the JLURD in at anything below +10°, even then it may not be necessary if you do two cycles on the glow plug warmer, if that is still possible.
