A sidestep with any width would provide more protection and not hang low like mud flaps do.

I have the xr extensions ready to go on, just got the Rokblokz xl also. And will be adding the tnt sidestep/rock rail also once I get my Jeep home. Want as much protection as can get for the vehicle.

I'm torn on protection. On one hand, I plan to have FUN with my Wrangler. I'm going to go off-roading, add decals, let ppl "climb" on it. (I had a friend who used to crawl through the open window of my Tracker when the top was down, "because it was a convertible." ? Things like that will be allowed.)
On the other hand, I could buy several houses for the price I'm paying for my Jeep, so I don't want to destroy it!

(Yes, they're not pristine mansions, but they're still houses...)

Oh I agree with you 100% when I had my Miata the top was never up unless it was raining or snowing. When the top was down the door didn’t get opened I just jumped over the door and climbed in. Later learned not good I idea to lower plastic windows below 40 they tend to crack.
I want to try to keep my Jeep as nice as possible as long as possible I know it’s going to get scratched up and banged up but as long as it’s from things I have done to it off roading and such I’m ok. But to get a paint chip on a door hinge because a rock flung off the tire driving down the road not ok. And it helps keep you clean while driving with doors off.
It is crazy back home I can by nice house for half wha my Jeep Msrp was. Out here can’t buy a trailer for quad the price.?
