So much hate for the 2 doors lol. We are a minority now.
I think the only haters are the hardcore 4 door fan boys. The 2 door Rubicon is a head in the poll.

No hate. But you are a minority for a reason. Actually 2.
1 - buyers preference
2 - the fact that Jeep makes all the cool options (392, 4xe, diesel, Xtreme Recon) available only on 4 door. Which reinforces 1.

Fix the poll and it will change. How about putting in the JLUR Xtreme Recon as an option? That is hands down the best. (and sadly only available as a 4 door)

Yeap. Idk why they hate the true Jeep so much. Sometimes I feel like deep down they wanna drive a naked 2 door instead of a naked 4 door that looks like a vandalized school bus ?.

Let me fix that for you

1 - soccer mom preference
2 - 392, 4xe, diesel, xtreme are minorities. the first two are niche jeeps. Diesel is cool. Xtreme was built to fix the issues with the 4 door on 33s.

Getting my winch, lights and compressor installed as I type. My 392 is in the shop right now. Can’t wait to get back out on the trails. Hopefully some riding planned for Sunday. I’ve taken my wife’s stock Sahara down some fun trails and learned it’s limits quickly.

As some others have mentioned. For sure the thought of trashing an $80K Rubicon 392 doesn’t sound ideal. I get it washed every week at work and detailed once a month. I love it shiny and clean. Hydro blue is an amazing color with a fresh wax. I’m a sucker for it polished like new.

With that said, it’s still a Rubicon with the tallest factory lift and is massively capable off road. It will get lots of trail time. Still debating getting PPF to avoid pinstripes and serious rock chipping, but I also feel that’s an uphill battle of maintenance that might not be worth it.

I think it comes down to your preference of looks and function. If you do go more toward overlanding (camping as I like to call it), then a 4 door diesel would be my suggestion.

You do realize that when I say 4 door Rubicon all of that falls under the category right? It doesn't need to be separate. People can option their 4 door on their own any way they like or order the ER. I don't have to spell it out.

Just like 2 door folks can get the Mopar 2 inch lift and bigger tires. So should I put that on there as well?

The only thing wrong with the poll is that a 392 IS a 4 door Rubicon, and after nearly 200 votes...there is no preference. It is literally 96 to 96 JL vs JLU as I type this.

You're technically right. I'll give you that as far as the amount of doors goes. But I did it that way because the 392 is a whole new and different platform then the regular 4 door Rubicon. It's got a big heavy V8, reinforced frame, 2 inch lift, full time 4wd and I can't believe I'm saying this but CV joints. It's totally different. It had to have a category of its own.

And this wasn't supposed to turn into a 2 door vs 4 door. I really was just after the capability.

Secretly we wanted 2 doors, but couldn’t afford to spend…less? I’m sure that’s it.

The rocks haven't changed much in the last 65,000,000 years, and the dirt roads haven't changed much in the last 100. People were wheeling in real Jeeps back in the day. They had like a 2.5 hp motor (okay, the Go Devil was really something like 47 hp), tiny, narrow bias-ply tires, no doors, no seat belts, and the driver parked his ass on top of a gas tank.

With that in mind, my vote is for the two-door, even though I bought a four-door so my dog could be more comfortable. I also lifted it, and put it on bigger tires, because do as I say, not as I do.

Nyanny nyanny boo boo! ?

Depends on the area. Moab rocks don't change much. In the high sierras where the rocks are mixed with loose soil they are vastly different year to year. As people wheel on bigger tires every year it seems, the ruts get deeper. I was amazed how much more of the boulders on the Dusy-Ershim were exposed this year since the last time we ran it 8 years ago. When 37's-40's are making the ruts and digging the holes, they quickly get to the point that they swallow up 31's. Not to mention, they brought wagons with metal wheel through the rocks. We've come a long way in both comfort and the amount of physical work it takes, but let's not forget most trails are wagon trails.

I didn't read through all the posts. Did anyone answer the question the right way yet, two-door.
