You lost me after 20-something...lolI see the conversation veered completely away from the foreign owners killing Jeep long term to how US Jeep owners are going to make a killing on their 20-something 2 dr with manual, Popsicle Chartreuse exterior with Burnt Umber faux leather interior because no one else was silly enough to buy something as idiotic as that.
I thought of this thread earlier when I saw a Carmax ad for a 2002 Ford Focus hatchback - asking $6k. I think they sold for $9k new back then based on when I bought a new 2005 Focus for under $10k.I see the conversation veered completely away from the foreign owners killing Jeep long term to how US Jeep owners are going to make a killing on their 20-something 2 dr with manual, Popsicle Chartreuse exterior with Burnt Umber faux leather interior because no one else was silly enough to buy something as idiotic as that.
From Renault to Chrysler, then Mercedes, Fiat and now Stellantis, Jeep has always been owned by another manufacturer. And these manufacturers have advanced Jeep production. Innovation and modernism. Because from the Wyllis to the CJ5, that is to say more than 40 years, not much progress...I see the conversation veered completely away from the foreign owners killing Jeep long term
I agree with you…especially regarding the minimal changes each year. I read an interesting article about the Stellantis CEO…he was brought on to cut costs and build profits. He has obviously cut costs by not investing $$$ into existing lines. We see the results. It will take years and probably a new owner to change things around.Stellantis can start by backing out of some of their 2022-2024 price increases which were a multiple of the inflation rate at that time.
Then they can start skinnying down their lineup of vehicles that no one wants. As has been mentioned in the past, 4 models - Wrangler, Grand Cherokee, Ram 1500, and Pacifica minivan - make up the majority of their vehicle sales. Focus.
Finally, invest in your big sellers and stop trying to milk them with minimal changes year after year.
Stella is getting hammered in share price year on year as well (41% down? 52wk low? yikes) That's where Tavares is gonna end up out of a job soon enough...you'd thinkhttps://www.cnbc.com/2024/10/02/stellantis-us-auto-sales-extend-freefall-in-third-quarter.html
19.8% drop in sales for Q3 vs Q3 last year.
???Or a subforum called AFU and put the threads under it.
AFU = All F*ckd Up
