Can anyone answer the question about the Mopar sold sunrider, is it the twill or the vinyl version.

it seems the Mopar version doesn’t use the z clips?

(yes, I do know Bestop makes the Mopar version also)

Thanks in advance!

The Mopar sold one is "ultra-premium black twill fabric". I might be wrong about this but isn't the z clip an old design and all new ones, Mopar or not, don't have them?

Z clip? I have two Sunrider tops. The first one had a defect on a corner. They sent me a replacement at no cost. We purchased the cheaper one. TOTALLY worth every penny.

Bestop did away with the Z clips on their branded version.

Which one costs more these days. I’ve seen the (premium) Bestop one on Amazon for under $900 if you catch them when the inventory is low.

Neither the Mopar branded SR for Hardtop or the Bestop SR for Hardtop use z clips. Indeed, Bestop did for a period of time use z clips.

Suggest you buy the Bestop, Twill offering.... and not the Mopar branded offering. Why... because the warranty is better with the Bestop, Twill SR.

Bestop stands by their warranty. Bestop will be there for you... Buy a Mopar branded offering and not only is the warranty not as good, but you will have to ... you must ...deal with Mopar..

Thanks for all the feedback, apparently the YouTube videos I have been watching have shown the z clips. Thanks for the info.

Now I know why I was confused, Bestops own videos on the JL page show the z clip installation.

Unfortunately, the JL top is back ordered.

As to the warranty, unless I am reading it wrong, the sunrider top twill material is 5 years, but it doesn’t cover hardware, and apparently that is only one year.

I’ve had both versions.

I’d suggest getting the Bestop version.

I ordered my JL with the Sunrider, and I installed it the second day I had this Jeep. It may be a JK vs JL thing, but the JL version is more “loose”. The JKs material was very tight at installation, and it stayed that way for the 3yrs I had it.

The material on my JL version has always been more loose. It even flutters in light winds. The installation was MUCH easier, but the fabric, when closed, isn’t taut.

Both are the Black twill, and the material is the same quality…just not the fitment.

What rack is that on the JL? I've been looking for one that's compatible with the sunrider. Have any problems with it?

I went with the Mopar version. I didn't know bestop was the one actually making them, else I would have went with them.

I got the Bestop Granite series rack when it was on sale for $200. I’ve had it for over a month and a half now, and I really like it. I have used it to carry something once…at 80mph with no problems. I will say though it is still noisy on windy days.

I got mine Thursday and just installed it today. I did a test drive to Sam’s, which was like a 40min drive. The wind noise over powers my 392 w/ it Atak exhaust open…at 55mph! It sounds like deep growling and you could feel the resistance. At 60-80mph it was horrible, even with music playing loudly! I came back and added the $70 Amazon wind fairing which DRASTICALLY reduced the noise. It decreased probably by 80%. I didn’t added the “Bestop” Logo brackets, there are no other logos on the rack.

Hows is the combination of the Top and Rack? Does the top lay against the rack, and does it cause any issues?

Can't help with the OP's question, but I *can* say that you should 100% buy the Sunrider. It stays on my Jeep around 9-10 months of the year (unless my whole top is off). Probably one of my favorite "mods" ever.

It lays back the same as before. I’d hoped that would be the case since it was sold by the same company.
