So I'm putting together my wish list and a few things on it, IMO, may trap road salt and chemicals leading to rust and corrosion. These items are rock skins (DV8 makes them but I know there are others), Pich weld covers, and some of the light bar/ cube mounting brackets. Some of these require drilling for nutsert and thats also a concern... more possibility for rust. Yeah its a big issue here in New England! Anyone have long term experience with these parts?

TLDR; If you buy good quality products and they're installed correctly, you should be fine.

I can't speak much regarding the subject as my answer is based off my old TJ, but my 04 had quite a few mods that required cutting, drilling, etc.

The good:
My hood was cut open to install a louver, so lots of exposed metal. The shop that installed it painted over the edges to prevent rust, and I never had an issue. My light mounts were drilled in, no issue.

Now the bad:
My old rear light guards had a small gap and ended up exposing the wiring cutouts to excess water, so the tub started to bubble under the paint and rust around my lights. My tube fenders required cutting, but there were no issues where the cut took place. However, the tube fenders themselves were not well thought out and gathered lots of water, salt, mud in many crevices and began rusting from the inside out.

Hope this helps a bit.

In the JL, the only part of the body with IRON init is the TUB BODY, the rest of the body/doors/hood/tailgate, is magnesium/Aluminum--

Of course all the under suspension/drivetrain is mostly steel--I'm not sure of the driveshafts though !

Rust is not much of a problem anymore--

oohhhh... so now I wonder about dissimilar metal issues. I'm sure I'm over thinking this a bit.
Yeah, most of the diff. metals are either BONDED/W THERMAL NULIFIERS, or separated by painted/gasketed joints !

NO PRPOBLEMO
