Probably good to at least get it "on the record" by your dealer, even if they don't do anything about it. If it gets worse then you can say "I told ya so" and you should have a legit warranty claim.Yeah yeah, it wont rust but it can corrode. I have read that magnesium corrodes easily, it doesn't have a reddish color but a dull gray color so I guess it will blend right in. I'll still have it checked.
The inner part is cast magnesium for added strength, the outer is aluminum. At least that's what I've read. The tailgate is mag?
Hi Megsxr750,Looks like a crack in the paint that is located on the bottom corner of the tailgate. I'm afraid this could start to rust at some point, sooner than later. I'm going to head to the dealership in the morning and see what they say. Anyone else have this happen??
Good guess, I think the OP wants a new Jeep over that.....My opinion is the outer skin is simply crimped over the inner panel and sealed with a soft compound at the location of the photo. I believe you're seeing cracking of the sealant.
Knowing the way that Jeep operates, they'll put a new tailgate on first and wait for the next part to fall off, good luck! Not a whole new Jeep, I was just hoping I could get a new body put on the frame, thatās all.
