It’s not the dent that leading me to scrap it - it’s the compromised reinforcement on the passenger side:

Fortunately MC had them in stock, so already on its way to me.
I'm a bit shocked that they bent like that. Unless, of course, you were doing a hand stand and those scrapes don't show.

I think the technical term is a nose stand, and I wouldn’t say I pulled it off. Blasted it coming down a rock ledge on Cliffhanger - i was surprised the air bags didn’t deploy.

I think I know the ledge you are talking about. It definitely gets your attention. I had a spotter motioning me on, saying "you're good, you're good". Then, ... holy crap, that's a big drop.

Looks like you guys did pretty good overall.

I got a bit of a boo boo on my 392 this year in Moab. It happened on Cliffhanger trail. Did I mention previously that the ledges keep getting bigger, and even a 4 1/2" lift and 40s are not enough. Either that, or my driving is not enough, probably the latter. At least I didn't scatter the stock axles all over the trail though (UD60s are another project for another day).

I managed to bend the right side RSE Stepslider enough to push in the rocker panel a small amount. There is a large dent in the bottom of the Stepslider and the step is jammed and won't deploy, even with a little persuasion from a crowbar. I haven't figured out exactly how the rocker panel got pushed in, because the top side of the Stepslider where it is against the rocker panel still looks straight. The really rusty scrapes are from Rubicon 2 years ago. The less rusty scrapes are from the Rubicon last year. The new scrapes and the dent are from Cliffhanger last week. I feel bad for not getting my Jeep cleaned up yet. Work has been crazy after a week off for Moab.

I didn't bother to take pictures of the new scrapes on the bumpers or skid plates.
Must have been one heck of a line you took to cause these "custom mods" to the RSE sliders. Would love to hear the details.

As for the rocker panels, w9nder of the bodybwas torqued over the body mount bolts at the time and caused the dents then when on level ground the body would move over again and show the normal clearance

What
Does this count?
LOL
A Dana 44 on 40's....
We will be going down to a smaller tire size.
We also used this Jeep out at KOH to set anchor/recovery points on the course and a bit of pre-running the new canyon trails.

what 40s are you running? are those stock gears? would love to hear what line caused the carnage ;)

That is making me nervous. I've been running the stock 392 XR axles for three years with 37s and now 40s. Done every trail in Moab, the Rubicon twice, and countless other trails with no problems so far. But my time is coming to become "that guy". I had another 392 owner ask me, "which tons was I using?" at the start of Metal Masher trail last week. When I said I had stock axles his jaw actually dropped, in shock that I would do such a thing. I'm definitely not part of the clique at trail line up. I'm looking at axles though. UD 60s would probably be the easiest install. a Fusion kingpin 60 front and 80 rear would probably be the strongest, and their both about the same cost.

Going down in tire size? Is that even a thing?
exactly why I'm sticking to 38s otherwise I'll be looking at UDs or Dynatrac/Fusions lol

Here is a picture of the rocker panel damage. The Stepslider mounts to the body mounts, so I think it tweaked the body mount enough that it pushed the rocker panel in.

Must have been a decent amount of lateral force to do that.

I can't remember, do those slider have mounts to the frame or just the body mount bolts?

Just the body mounts. It did have a lot of lateral force to it. It was one of those impacts that makes you wonder why the air bag didn't go off.

Trail damage; the true Jeep badge of honor.

Question for all whom have smashed their stock/ tucked in AWE exhaust tips....

Would it not be a better idea to unbolt and remove the exhaust tips prior to wheeling/ rock crawling to avoid a potential smashing of the exhaust tips? I acknowledge that this can be tedious, and an afterthought when preparing the rig at the trail head. I have personally done it when painting my muffler & tips black. Definitely feasible for those who haven't tried to remove the exhaust tips. 🍻

Curious to see if/how the exhaust would sound coming out of either side when removing the exhaust tips instead of how they are normally directed to the back of the Jeep lol.

With the stock 392 exhaust I did this last year when I went to EJS. Pulled both tips off and left them home for the trip. I didn't notice any difference in noise and is easy to do.

I‘m not sure how @R4NS0M found a shelf that could reach her nicely tucked up AWE tips, but life finds a way. I’ll probably wait until we smash one shut before I think about pulling them off every time.

Definitely a good idea to pull tips on the stock setup, they are first contact when stepping off of ledges.

We worked hard to improve upon the departure angle allowed by the stock setup, but it looks like the real hero in this case was our BashGuard ™ Stainless steel tip reinforcements! I hope you have some video @R4NS0M !!

We agreed around the office that you should run those dents like a badge of honor, but make sure you reach out to our support staff if you ever feel the need to order a replacement. We are shocked you got a rock there in the first place! After all, it was constructed with your exact use case/scenario in mind (we have some weekend wheeling enthusiasts sprinkled around the office;))

I *don’t* have video, but if I did I probably was a good example of not quite doing it right, lol.

I disagree. It's like walking around with a chipped front tooth. Fix the damn thing.
