Installed Metalcloak full width rear bumper. Install wasn’t bad but a couple quick notes.

Instructions didn’t include parts list. At each step it would say provided part, but there was quite a few nuts and bolts without a part number to identify it.

At one point instructions showed different “button bolts” that were not included. Video showed correct bolt as well as the next series of instructions in the PDF. Nothing bad but had to scramble to look for parts that were actually different.

Step FF shows you tighten and level the bumper, but no way to do it because instructions had you already install the end caps which blocked access to the bolts.

Back up sensor clips on plastic bumper are not the same as on the metal bumper and cannot be reused. The included clips were in one of the end cap boxes separate from the main bumper box and parts. Wasted some time in figuring this out.

If you purchase the license plate swivel relocation bracket, you should wire the license plate light prior to putting the bumper on. This isn’t in the bumper instructions or the bracket instructions, but if you wait to wire it, it would be near impossible.

All in all customer service with metalcloak was good. Spoke with them several times prior to the bumper arriving and had all the parts we needed. It would be great if @Metalcloak had a longer video that spent a little more time covering each step but in the end I managed to figure everything out. I am very satisfied with the quality and look, it’s a great bumper.

Update: Spare tire won’t fit back on. Bumper sticks out too far. Will call Metalcloak in the morning to see if there is a solution?

Installed the same bumper a couple of weeks ago and ran into the same issues. I ended up leveling mine before adding the end caps. Also ran into the spare tire issue. I have the Teraflex Alpha carrier so I was able to raise the tire studs and mount the tire. I’ll be interested to hear what Metalcloak says.

I have the same bumper and have had up to a 40 inch tire with the alpha HD carrier from Teraflex no issues.

Talked to Metalcloak, they said it’s due to the stock JLUR rim/offset. Ordered their Lift Bracket which they said should fix it.

Still pleased with Metalcloak and the bumper. In all fairness, there is a note on their website that I didn’t see when I ordered that warns the stock wheel and tire might hit the bumper.

That's a great looking bumper. I like that it wraps around the sides to protect that section of body that most bumpers leave exposed. And bonus points for the way they tucked the trailer wiring up high like that.

I might have to check this thing out.

Thanks, it took me a long time to make a decision and I am really happy with the end results.

Another nice feature is that the end caps are removable/replaceable. The entire reason why I replaced my stock bumper was because a dropped down on a rock on the drivers side and cracked the plastic so I figured having one that could be easily repaired was a plus.

Are you still happy with this bumper? Have you slamed down on it and how did it hold up?

I have no regrets with my purchase. I liked it so much I purchased the front bumper too.

They are incredible solid have shown no signs of wear since install regardless of several water crossings and the salt they throw on the roads in the northeast. I haven’t come down on any rocks with them yet(either dumb luck or I just got better at picking lines), but if I do, I’m not worried about it damaging them.

My rear narrow width just came in today. Took right at 4 weeks which I was hoping would be a little quicker. I am still awaiting my front bumper but I ordered it a week later.

It looks like a great bumper. I unpacked it and loosely installed the end caps just to see what it looks like. My Jeep is in the shop with a blown locker or at least that what they are thinking.

Thanks for the PMs and answering my questions. I am going to like this bumper.

Got mine installed besides the Swivel mount license plate light. I ran the wires but the show connecting to the red and black stock harness and my stock harness has a bunch of tiny wires going to the connections. How did you wire yours?

Wonder if they changed the harness, mine was just two wires. Only issue I had was instructions had them backwards for the hookup. I’d take pictures, but i have it zip tied and tucked away into the bumper.

Maybe @CloakedWillys can help.

Mine is a 392 and has dual lights but I believe my Rubicon X has the same harness.

Agreed the MetalCloak rear bumper is awesome! I replaced the gold bolts with large button head bolts to match the OEM front and love this look. I prepped and painted the bolts then baked em in the oven for a few hours at 270 degrees. After looking at MetalCloak, LOD and a molded plastic license plate bracket I settled on the Rebel version, shaped to fit the body and no larger than necessary!

Fitting Rebel license plate holder, like this one a lot...(Bolts still not painted)

Rebel bracket installed and all button head's painted! (She is on jack stands getting a total suspension makeover) ;)
