Does anyone know how to make the chimes louder with the DSR1? I just realized I have no volume on the backup sensors.
It's in the installation instructions.... select a source on the headhunt that has nothing attached to it (AUX or similar) and while running put the Jeep in Reverse with something that the sensors will detect, bike, cooler, whatever. When you see the alert show up in the cluster turn the volume up to however loud you want the beeps/alert. The DSR1 will set this as your chime volume.

Anyone getting an alternator whine with this install? This just started recently> I checked the ground and moved it as well to test but still getting it. I hear it as I accelerate and decelerate.
I too was getting the whine. I tried moving the ground to various locations including the one Dave recommends as well as through the floorboard and directly onto the chassis but still got the whine. I too isolated the noise to the soundbar speakers but I didn't have to have the gain past 12 o'clock to hear it. I finally added a ground loop isolator (I only needed one because I have a pre-amp; not the cause of the noise) and the noise was gone! I think I spent 12 bucks on Amazon for it.

Post-install update... granted I have not mic'ed anything with test gear or had another installer signal/sample things but after a few months of working different curves with the DSR1 I came to the conclusion that the MBQ drivers just aren't likable to my ears/preferences. Other than the sub/amps (that are still installed) I should have just built what I know would work ... didn't want the complexity though with the Wrangler due to its unusual speaker locations, weather considerations, etc. Lesson learned.

As of about mid August I've swapped all of the MBQ drivers out for Infinity Reference replacements, buying old-stock and on-sale to cut costs. If I were starting over I'd go Kappa everything, 5ch amp, DSR1 and some sort of sub... the MBQ one is fine in the stock housing, may do that again but with the 5th channel of a single amp. No complaints on the MBQ amps. The MBQ hardware is fine as well, speaker boxes, 6x9 conversion kits and wiring all works well. One thing to note there is a substantial crossover(thankfully) in the MBQ lower dash pods that I left in place to do the lower dash and upper dash split, pics below... thankfully that works here. Also the pods and 6x9 plates are plug-n-play with the Infinity drivers, cable pins too. Easy replacement overall.

Items used:

Upper dash - Infinity Reference 3032cfx 3.5" with Metra weatherproof backing cups

Lower dash - Infinity Reference 6530cx 6.5" (just the mids, tweeters/crossovers available if anyone needs them)

Soundbar - Infinity Reference 9633ix 6x9"

A little over 2mos in and happy to report the sound is balanced, smooth, loud and much more full comparatively speaking. Nice having some of the missing bass back from the MBQ drivers as well.

Live and learn.

Still waiting to do similar in my 24. Won’t go with the MBQ setup again. Stepping up for sure. I will use the DSR1 though…

Ironic that I started with a set of 3032's in the dash and a set of 6530's in the sound bar before I went in and pulled everything for the Quart setup. I pulled them becasue the stock amp did not like the 6530's and shut them off becasue of the reduced impedance.

Funny isn't it. Everyone hears differently so I try to refrain from making any speaker recommendations. The MBQ kits are well designed options, they just don't sound like the MBQ speakers I played with growing up. Different company today I know... anyhoo... like what I have now.

So no issues so far with the 3032’s? The Quart crossover is keeping everything happy?

Nope, things are working well here... MBQ crossovers seem fine. The DSR1 equalizer(s) are all flat, just using the low/high pass filters to keep the sub and low dash/speakerbars from affecting each other in the 60-80hz ranges.

Still looking at doing this upgrade. I was comparing the efficiency of the Quart 6x9 and the 9633 and the Infinty is much more efficent. Also the 3 ohm load will get more out of the amp as well. I would rather not dig into the dash again, at least not during winter because I do not have garage space. Cinsidering just doing the dash and the soundbar and leaving the Quart driver in the pod til spring and see if I like it.

Probably not a bad plan... I hated to split the Infinity 6.5 coax setup(still have the crossovers/tweeters here) but wanted the timber matched lower dash drivers. There's a good bit more bass/mid range with the Infinity drivers overall. Happy here.

Lol, sorry. I mean thats the goal right? They'll sound really good if it makes you feel better... and you won't get as many dash cuts/bloody hands as the MBQ pods will stay in place =)

It's plug/play for pretty much every location. Everything swaps w/o any modifications.
