Just adding a status update on mine... still playing with the tweeters here. There was an initial shrill at loud volumes that was bothering my ears (just something I deal with on speakers here, my ears seem to prefer fabric dome tweeters vs metal) that I was using the DSP to help with, so much so that I was looking to replace the dash 3.5s with something less aggressive/different tweeters recently. The good news is after another few hours of exercising these (top off/down listening) the shrill has lessened and I'm flat across the EQ again 1K+ Hz and up. Just something I notice, not a MB issue or anything specific. Just wanted to note that these do balance out with use after some aggressive use.

Also PunchEQ bumped up a little more and Sub gain dialed back maybe ~10%. I still use the Sub knob on the dash to tweak Sub volume based on what I'm listening to. Everything is working well... carry on.

To add, I think that there is a little more in the amp. I had the levels with the AmpPro closer to 11 o'clock than I have them set with the DSR. Once we end up swapping tops I will tweak it a little and check back.

Agreed... there's plenty at the Amps in this setup, much more than I'm using currently.

Literally was having the same problem and thinking about switching the fronts as well! Good to know I am not the only one.

Play it pretty loud and give it some time... the harshness I originally noticed (picky ears here I guess) goes away after some use. Just need some break-in time I think... or maybe I'm getting used to it lol. Either way the MB drivers are settling down now with some extended use.

Dave at MBQuart told me this was coming out when I purchased my kit. He said a few were going to be available at Jeep Beach. I think it’s cool, but I have their sub kit and its more than enough. The sub is definitely not the weak part of the kit. I wonder why you would want this to be honest. I could only imagine this is good for the people who don’t have a factory sub spot so they have to use the tailgate?

I wonder how much that is going to cost. A great idea if you have a non-Alpine but if it's closer to $1000 than $500, IMO, a StealthBox would be a better option. Already hanging a 37 off my tailgate with a Teraflex hinge and I would not like to add any additional weight.

I have to admit.. I am not a fan of these 6x9‘s. Ever listen to them by themselves? Not good.

I am thinking of replacing them with Focals but I am wondering if the amp is EQed to match the MBQuarts? Does anyone know?

The amp is off the shelf marine unit so I would think that the speaker was designed around the cleared out enclosure and the amp. It's getting close to spring top swap but once next fall rolls around I would like to get the Jeep to a stereo shop and use an RTA to up the EQ.

Interesting. Never heard of RTA? I imagine that is the equivalent to Dirac Live for a home system?

With the DSR1 you can pretty much match whatever you want in there. The MBQ amps seem to have plenty of power.

I'm really liking the kit now that the tweeters are settling down. When I did this system I didn't want to do anything too-custom (have that in my Trailhawk) especially since its a Wrangler with poor speaker placement from the get-go and environmentals to worry about (top-off rain/water in the cabin). I just couldn't justify $5-600/pair for drivers and then the amps and the subs and all the experimentation in an open-top vehicle with poor speaker placement... lol. On and on. Like the MBQ simplicity and thoroughness, just needed a DSP to help dial it in some more.

Every other day I love it... and the opposite day I'm underwhelmed. Messed with the EQ today and I am back to loving it. I feel every morning when I jump in, it take a few songs to warm up. Bass sounds anemic until i go in and just hook up the perfect tune app to the bluetooth. It's almost like the settings are not sticking from the app. Does that make sense?
